Bomber Interception

The Bf110 was certainly more
suited for attacking slow bombers
than for engaging other night
fighters, and it performed rather
well until early 1944, by which
time the Ju88 was available in
sufficient quantity to warrant
discarding the Bf110G-4. The Bf110
had a heavy gun armament when equip-
ped with either 2 Mk108 30mm cannon
or a single BK3,7 37mm cannon that
was quite sufficient to quickly down
a heavy bomber. The addition of
standardized schrage musik guns
increased the aircraft's tactical
flexibility. This advantageous
weapon lessened the need to make
normal rear attacks, where the Bf110's
slow speed left it vulnerable in a
bomber formation.

ORDERS:
Wurzburg radar arrays have picked
up the approach of British bombers.
Destroy as many as possible, and
return safely to base.
