                     OS/RAM32 Memory Adapter board
                    ͼ

OS/RAM32 provides up to 8 megabytes of additional memory for
        your IBM PS/2 model 50, 60, 70, 80, or compatible.

OS/RAM32 runs with zero wait states, at the highest speed possible
        on the Microchannel.
OS/RAM32 operates in 16-bit or 32-bit mode, automatically
configuring based on your computer type for the fastest operation.

OS/RAM32 works with DOS, OS/2, or any other operating system.

OS/RAM32 memory can be used as expanded memory (LIM 4.0 standard)
        with DOS.

                        OS/RAM32 Installation
                          with DOS or OS/2

(see later instructions if you are not running
one of these two operating systems)

To install your OS/RAM32 card, you will need the following:

        * The OS/RAM32 board
        * The OS/RAM32 software diskette
        * Your working copy of the PS/2 Reference Diskette, which came
with your computer. (If you have not yet made a copy of this
          diskette, do so now.)

BEFORE PLUGGING THE CARD INTO THE COMPUTER:

        1) Insert the OS/RAM32 diskette in drive A and type the command:

                A:INSTALL

Follow the instructions on the screen, putting your PS/2
Reference Diskette in drive A when requested.

        NOW TURN THE COMPUTER OFF.

        2) Remove the cover of the computer and put the OS/RAM32 board
in any unused slot. You must first remove the existing rear
panel sheet metal piece by loosening the retaining screw on
           the rear panel.
If you are installing OS/RAM32 in a model 70 or 80, you should
use one of the 32-bit slots for maximum performance.
Make sure to line the board up correctly with the card guides
and to seat it firmly in the system board connector.
Tighten the rear panel screw to hold the board in place.

NOW TURN THE COMPUTER ON AGAIN.

        3) The PS/2 Reference Diskette should still be in drive A.
When the computer boots, it will display a message number
and beep, indicating that it has recognized a change in
configuration. The startup process will continue, and
the Reference Diskette code will run.
Hit the Enter key at the first screen. A message will
display indicating that the computer's configuration has
           changed.
Hit the PgDn key to see the rest of the message.
Hit the "Y" key to choose automatic configuration.

        4) When automatic configuration completes, remove the Reference
Diskette from drive A and hit the Enter key.

        5) The computer will re-boot normally. The message:

OS/RAM32 Memory Adapter. Copyright (C) 1988 Capital Equipment Corp.

will display, and then the OS/RAM32 code will initialize
and count the memory on the board.

                        OS/RAM32 Installation
                    with other operating systems

If you do not have DOS or OS/2 (for example, you may be running
the Xenix operating system), you will not be able to run the
INSTALL command from the OS/RAM32 diskette.

Instead, you should boot the computer from the PS/2 Reference
Diskette and then choose the "Copy an option diskette" command.
Follow the instructions shown on the screen to copy the required
information from the OS/RAM32 diskette to the PS/2 Reference
        Diskette.

Then, continue from step #2 above.
