==================
ABOUT THIS PACKAGE
==================
This package contains the latest drivers (Audio, Wavetable
and FM) for the Audiotrix Pro under Windows NT. These new
drivers include the following changes:

1. You no longer need to initialize the Audiotrix Pro
in DOS to get MIDI (Wavetable) support under Windows NT.

2. New Input and Output Mixer controls based on the Windows
Sound System interface.

3. Recording is now done by means of the Sound Recorder which is
found in the Accessories program group. The input recording controls
are now accessed through the Volume Control which is also found
in the Accessories program group. Click the upper left corner of the
Volume Control window and select "Show Recording Control".

=============================
REMOVING THE PREVIOUS DRIVERS
=============================
If you were using our previous driver package, you must
remove all of the old drivers before installing the new driver
package.

To remove the Crystal Semiconductor Wave Driver, access the
"Control Panel" (which is in the "Main" Program Group), and
double click on the "Drivers" icon.

Once in the "Drivers" section, highlight the driver called
"CS31BA11 Business Audio NT Ver. 1.61" and click on the
"Remove" button. Do NOT restart your computer yet.

To remove the Generic MPU-401 driver, return to the "Drivers"
section, highlight the driver called "Generic MPU-401 Driver 1.0"
and click on the "Remove" button. Do NOT restart your computer
yet.

To remove the FM MIDI synthesizer driver (if installed), return
to the "Drivers" section, highlight the driver called "MIDI
Synthesizer" and click on the "Remove" button. You must now
restart your computer.

To complete the removal process, and to make absolutely certain
that no old driver files remain on your hard drive, access the
Program Manager, select File, and Run the REMOVE.BAT file included
on the Windows NT Drivers installation diskette. This REMOVE.BAT
program removes the following files from your \SYSTEM32 subdirectory:

ATP32.DLL
MPU401.DLL
SYNTH.DLL
MIDIMAP.CFG
TRXPRONT.HEX
SYNTH.PAT

And the following files from your \SYSTEM32\DRIVERS subdirectory:

ATP.SYS
MPU401.SYS
SYNTH.SYS

=================================
INSTALLING THE WINDOWS NT DRIVERS
=================================
Before beginning the istallation process, we recommend that
you access the "Windows NT Diagnostics" in the "Administrative Tools"
program group to determine the DMA, IRQ, and I/O addresses that
are used for other resources. This information can be found
in the IRQ/Port Status and DMA/Memory sections of the Windows NT
Diagnostics.

The addresses available for the Audiotrix PRO drivers are as follows:

I/O addresses:  330, 370, 3B0, 3F0, 530, 604, E80, F40
IRQ addresses:  3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11
DMA channels:  0, 1, 3

To install the drivers under Windows NT, you must access
the "Control Panel" (which is in the "Main" program group),
then double click on the "Drivers" icon.

Once in the "Drivers" section, click on the "Add" button.
In the driver selection screen, select "Unlisted or Updated
Driver" and click "OK". When prompted for the path of the
manufacturer's disk, type the name of the drive (ie. "A:\")
where the drivers are located and click "OK".

The following three drivers are available to install:

  - Audiotrix PRO (Wave driver)
  - Generic MPU-401 Driver 1.0
  - FM MIDI Synthesizer

First, install the "Audiotrix PRO" wave driver. Highlight
"Audiotrix PRO" and click "OK". You need this driver to be
able to play and record .WAV files. When configuring this
driver, you must select an address for the I/O port, DMA
and IRQ. At this time, you must also select an address for
the I/O port and the IRQ for the MPU-401 interface (If this
will be installed). Take note of these settings for the next
part of the installation. Click "OK", but do NOT restart your
computer yet.

Second, install the "Generic MPU-401 Driver 1.0". Highlight
"Generic MPU-401 Driver 1.0" and click "OK". You need
this driver to be able to play .MID files using the Wavetable
synthesizer of the Audiotrix Pro. When configuring this
driver, you must select the same address for the I/O port and
IRQ as selected above for the MPU-401 interface of the "Audiotrix
PRO" driver. Click "OK", but do NOT restart your computer yet.

Finally, install the "FM MIDI Synthesizer". You need this driver
to be able to play .MID files using the FM Synthesizer of the
Audiotrix Pro. Once this has been completed, restart your computer.

=====================================
MODIFICATIONS DURING THE INSTALLATION
=====================================
The following changes will be made to your system during
the installation process:

    \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\ATP32.DLL
    \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\TRXPRONT.HEX
    \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ATP32.SYS

If you install the "Generic MPU-401 Driver 1.0" driver, the
following files will be copied to your hard drive:

    \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\MIDIMAP.CFG
    \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\MPU401.DLL
    \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\MPU401.SYS

If you install the "FM MIDI Synthesizer" driver, the
following files will be copied to your hard drive:

    \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\SYNTH.PAT
    \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\SYNTH.DLL
    \WINNT35\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\SYNTH.SYS

interface.

======================
BUNDLED SOFTWARE NOTES
======================
All of the software bundled with the Audiotrix Pro works
normally under Windows NT with the following exceptions:

- To make SuperJam! Jr. work, run the "Test my sound card
  setup" option in the "Help" menu.
- Soft Karaoke does not function at all under Windows NT.

===============
TROUBLESHOOTING
===============
Q: When configuring the IRQ address for the Audiotrix PRO driver,
Windows NT tells me that the IRQ I have chosen is not available.
However, I know that this IRQ is available.

A: Occasionally, Windows NT indicates an IRQ address is not
available when this is not the case. Change the I/O address (i.e.
530 to 604) and try the IRQ configuration again. This should solve
the problem.
