If followed correctly, this will allow the addition of a second hard
drive to the units purchased from Paul Rau Consulting. There are no
guarantees this will work on other units. Also note that the second
drive must be the same capacity as the first. For example, a 20meg for
 the first and a 20meg for the second, NOT a 10 and a 20 !

To connect the second drive, follow the schematic above per the following:

 (1) Make a backup of your first drive. Don't assume everything will
     go perfectly the first time.

 (2) Connect the 34 pin connector to the controller and daisy chain
the cable to the two drives. Always connect pin #1 on the controller
to pin #1 on the drive.

 (3) Connect the 20 pin connector per the drawing (j3 to the first drive)
     and j4 to the second)

 (4) Set the drive select jumper on the second drive to DS 1 (for drive
     select 1)

 (5) Run a power cable to the second drive.

 (6) Format the second drive the same as the first EXCEPT, when the format
program (FMATJRFD.EXE) asks for the SCSI Target Address, type 0
and for Logical Unit Number, type 1. (you did make a backup didn't you?)

Here's what is needed for supplies:

 1- Seagate ST-225 20meg drive.
 2- Cables
    a) The short 20 pin cable can be reused if you dont move the controller.

    b) The 20 pin cable that goes from J4 on the controller to the 2nd
drive is made by putting one IDS-20 at one end and an IDE-20 at
the other end. The 20 pin cable should be about 12 inches long

    c) The 34 pin cable is made by using 3 each IDE-34 connectors and
24 inches of 34 pin cable. One connector is placed at each end
and the third is placed about 8 inches from one end.
