Section 1 - Overview of ImageAccel

ImageAccel integrates high resolution, fast speed image
decompression, scale-to-gray image enhancement, and
extremely fast Windows acceleration on a single chip.

Ultra-fast Windows Performance
With ImageAccel's on-chip Windows acceleration you can open,
close, move, size and scroll windows with blazing speed.
ImageAccel was specially designed to maximize overall
Windows performance.

Scale-to-Gray
ImageAccel's built-in scale-to-gray engine enhances image
quality lost in the scanning and scaling process. Resulting
images are easy to read, with no performance loss.

Hardware Assist for Document Imaging
The ImageAccel Display Controller incorporates hardware assist
for decompression, scaling and rotation of bi-tonal document
images. This provides exceptional image display rates without
the cost of traditional hardware-based decompression.

VGA Support
For PC/AT bus systems, non-Windows applications use ImageAccel's
on-board VGA, which can display on either the high resolution
display or on a separate VGA display connected to the ImageAccel
controller. ImageAccel's on-board VGA provides 640 x 480
resolution, and 16 colors out of a palette of 262,144.

For Micro Channel bus systems, ImageAccel provides VGA
compatibility by attaching to the VGA controller on the system
motherboard.

Section 4 - Known Problems with the Windows NT Display Driver

o Enlarging a bitmap image by a factor of 32 or greater will
cause the image to be corrupted.

o MS Word 6.0 - Dragging Window Off Screen Leaves White Line
in Gray Area Surrounding Document (BUG1604) Dragging
another window over the area refreshes the gray border.

o Some Colors Don't Refresh on Lotus Application Guided Tours
   on DP150 (BUG1596)

o Color 21 2nd and 5th Zoom Level - Cannot Pan to Right-Most
Area of Display (BUG1592) Zoom to another level to pan
   the entire display.

o Some pan values are not correct for PC/MC 164/161 boards.
They don't allow you to pan to the right-most area when you
zoom in to 640x480. This happens for DP120. (BUG360)
Zoom to another level to pan the entire display.

o Grayscale Displays - Cursor Does Not Refresh Properly After
Waking Up From Power Save Mode (BUG1586) Pan the
cursor over a window to refresh the cursor.

o Grayscale Displays w/ Paintbrush - Colors Don't Refresh
Properly When Cut and Moved (BUG1572)

o Paintbrush - Spray Can Does Not Paint (BUG1590)

o Animated Cursors on the DP120 and DP150 Leave Screen Trash
   In Their Trails (BUG1563)

o Animated Cursors - Overlapped Icons in Program Manager Do
   Not Refresh Properly (BUG1559)

o Various Software Cursors Erase Portion of Desktop Where
They Overlapped the Highlighted Area (BUG1552)

o Fixed Frequency Displays - VGA Colors and High Res DOS
Window Full Screen Colors Are Off (BUG1575)

of the Display Not Used - Frame Grab Parameters
   Incorrect (BUG1513)

			      *  *  *

Section 5 - Known Problems with Windows NT and Windows Applications

o A number of DOS and 16-bit Windows applications fail under NT
with any display driver. If you experience such a failure,
please try the same application with the NT VGA driver before
reporting the problem to us.

o A logical DPI of 150, 192, or 240 causes display anomalies in
some common commercially available applications due to defects in
those applications.

o A Large or Extra-Large System Font causes display anomalies in
some common commercially available applications due to defects in
those applications.

o A Large or Extra-Large System Font is not usable for Windows
text entry boxes that are TOO SMALL. In cases where fonts do not
display correctly, the solution is to reset the ImageAccel
Control Panel option - System Font to Standard. Then make the
changes in the text box. Then, reset the System Font back to
Large or Extra-Large.

o Adobe Illustrator 4.0 - Regular Font Helvetica text is
overlapped.

o Pan feature does not work after zooming with Microsoft
animated cursors.

Section 6 - Hardware Installation

Installation Notes:

Before installing the ImageAccel controller, disable the VGA
on your computer's motherboard if it does not disable
automatically when it detects a VGA card. Remove your add-in
VGA card if you have one, or disable ImageAccel's on-board VGA by
removing jumper V to use another VGA source.

* NOTE: For IBM PS-1 Valuepoint computers (Model 425SX/S, 56,)
we strongly recommend disabling the motherboard
VGA. To do this, remove jumper 17 on the IBM's
	   motherboard.

It is essential that ImageAccel not conflict with either the
memory or I/O addresses of any other controller in your system.
Your ImageAccel controller has been pre-configured for memory
addresses DE00-DFFF and I/O addresses 3B0/3B1. If you need to
change these defaults, change the jumpers as described in the
User's Guide. Do not use address range B600-B7FF unless all
other selections create a conflict, as this range inhibits
monochrome VGA operation (the DOS command MODE MONO).

If you use an ImageAccel Controller with a monochrome MDA or
HGA controller, you can not use I/O address 3B0 and memory
address B600-B7FF. In addition, you need to add VGA MonoText=0
to the [386Enh] section of your SYSTEM.INI file.

Hardware Installation Procedure

1. Ensure that the system is configured for VGA mode (640x480x16
or 256 Colors)

2. Turn OFF the computer.

3. Remove the cover from your computer.

4. Verify the jumper settings. The factory default settings have
been chosen to work with most system configurations. If you need
to change these defaults, please refer to the Jumper
Configuration section at the end of Chapter 3, Hardware
Installation, of the ImageAccel Installation Guide.

For PC/AT systems the default configuration is:
   I/O address: 3B0 - 3B1

high resolution display MUST be connected to the
UPPER connector on the ImageAccel controller.

6. Connect the other end of the video cable to the display.

For Color controllers only: Connect the five BNC connectors at
the other end of the video cable to the back of the display
as follows:

 Cable Color Display Connector

 red R
 blue B
 green G
refer to marking on cable H
refer to marking on cable V

* NOTE: To ensure high resolution display quality,
ImageAccel requires that you use the 15-pin to
5 BNC video cable supplied with the color
    controller.

7. Connect the power to the display and the computer and
power both units ON.

For Micro Channel systems:

Section 9 - ImageAccel Control Panel

Select the desired options from the ImageAccel Control Panel
and select OK. Some changes to the Control Panel default
settings require you to restart Windows NT before the changes
take effect.

To change the ImageAccel Control Panel options later, double
click on the ImageAccel icon minimized on the desktop or within
the Windows NT Control Panel.

The ImageAccel Control Panel allows you to configure system
colors, fonts, resolutions, and zoom keys for your
high-resolution desktop. Please refer to the ImageAccel
Control Panel HELP for details of all ImageAccel Control
Panel functions.

The Control Panel's "Power Save" button displays ImageAccel's
Power Management dialog box. This system provides support for the
Energy Star power save process.

NOTE: The Power Management feature can not be used in conjunction
with the Windows NT Screen Saver with a security password
feature.

If you do not use NT's Password protection with a Screen Saver,
you may use ImageAccel's Power Management Feature.

If you have an early DP150 that does not support the Energy Star
PowerSave feature you should disable the ImageAccel Power
Management dialog checkboxes. (BUG1260) These checkboxes are
enabled by default and once enabled will turn your screen
white. You can disable this feature through clicking on the
ImageAccel display icon, moving to the ImageAccel tab and
selecting the PowerSave button. Removing the checks from
the checkboxes and selecting "OK" will disable the feature.

The Select Hot Keys option configures user-definable keys for
ImageAccel's Zooming and Panning features. You may select the
enable/disable option to activate/deactivate each Hot Key. You
may use the pre-defined keys, or choose to define your own key
sequences. The hot keys are enabled as the default.

NOTE: You may find that the ImageAccel Zoom and Pan Hot Keys
conflict with Windows NT's or other applications' hot keys.
The F10 Zoom Restore hot key, for instance, conflicts with
the Windows NT Program Manager F10 hot key. If there are
any hot key conflicts, reassign the hot key values to values
that are not already in use by the operating system or
application to avoid the conflict.
