(1) OVERVIEW
============

This README explains how to install the UPPSFM.EXE driver under DOS. This
driver implements a Data Link Interface (DLI) conforming to the SysKonnect
Universal Portable Protocol Stack (SK-UPPS) standard. It is the platform for
all SK-UPPS client applications and protocols, which may be loaded on top of
the DLI. See the documentation that comes with those applications and protocols
for detailed information on how to install them.

The UPPSFM.EXE driver supports the following network adapters of the
SysKonnect FDDI network adapter family:

	SK-NET FDDI MCA

(3) REQUIRED FILES
==================

The following file is required:

	UPPSFM.EXE	The SK-NET FDDI MCA DLI driver

(4) INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
=============================

Step 1:	Copy UPPSFM.EXE to the directoy in which you want your UPPS
	network drivers to reside (e.g. C:\UPPS).

Step 2:	You can start UPPSFM.EXE either manually or automatically. To
	start the driver manually, type the following at the command prompt:

		UPPSFM [option(s)]

	where "option(s)" may be one or more of the optional parameters
	described later.

	To start the driver automatically, add the above command line to a
	batch file (e.g. AUTOEXEC.BAT).

(5) DRIVER PARAMETERS
=====================

The following optional software- and hardware-related parameters are supported
by UPPSFM.EXE. You can obtain a list of all available driver options by
typing the following:

	UPPSFM ?

SOFTWARE-RELATED (DLI) OPTIONS
------------------------------

	-u  unload resident DLI
	-o  remote boot support
	-p  max protocols (1..30), default 8
	-c  max multicasts (1..20), default 8
	-a  node address (hex), default ROM
	-k  DECnet node address (e.g. -k8.133), no default
	-x  service interrupt (hex), default 7Ch

HARDWARE-RELATED (DRIVER) OPTIONS
---------------------------------

	-s  slot number (1..8), default auto
	-r  number of receive buffers (1..7), default 2
	-t  number of transmit buffers (1..7), default 2
