PCD-47 m3.2 FIRMWARE UPGRADE

Introduction:

A folder named "PCD47-m32" should now appear in the same location as the PCD47-m32.EXE file (provided that the default location was unchanged). The "PCD47-m32" folder will contain four (4) files. These files are:

Readme.txt - This file!
FirmUpdate.exe - Utility used to test and flash upgrade the firmware for a PCD-47.
Card_pca.bin - Binary firmware file used to flash the PCD-47.
firmup.ini - Pre-configured configuration file used by the FirmUpdate.exe program.

Instructions:

To flash your PCD-47, follow the instructions below. Make sure the PCD-47 is properly connected and that all three drives show up in Windows Explorer or My Computer.

1. Launch the "FIRMUPDATE.EXE" utility inside the "PCD47-m32" folder to begin the upgrade process.

The utility is already configured to flash your PCD-47 with the specified file ("Card_pca.bin"). Additionally, the utility is pre-configured to flash the unit set for default ID values of 4, 5, and 6.

2. Eject all media from the drive and select "Firm Update" to begin the process of upgrading to m3.2.

The flash process will take a minute to complete and will display the progress in the windows box to the left.

3. Once completed, you can select "Finish" to exit or "Test" to test the PCD-47.

The test feature is pre-configured to test all three drive slots for read and write capabilities. Insert media into all three slots and select "Test". The test will only take a few seconds and will display the results in the window box to the left of the utility.

Troubleshooting:

FIRMUPDATE.EXE Fails to Open:
If the "FIRMUPDATE.EXE" utility fails to open, this usually means that Windows was unable to properly access the ASPI layer. You may also see a message, which states that the WN32ASPI.DLL file is missing.

In this instance, you should install the latest ASPI layer updates or SCSI utilities available for your SCSI card. These should be found on the CD (or floppy) provided with your SCSI adapter or downloaded from the webpage of the SCSI card manufacturer.

Multiple SCSI Host Adapters:
If you have multiple SCSI host adapters installed on your computer, make sure that the correct one is set in the FIRMUPDATE.EXE utility. Otherwise, the firmware utility will report that the firmware process failed when you attempt to select the "Firm Update" option.

A pull down menu is located at the top right hand corner of the utility. Select the correct SCSI host adapter that the PCD-47 is connected to and then begin the flash upgrade process.
