  BEFORE YOU BEGIN
  --------------------------------------------------------------------------
If your computer does NOT have a plug-and-play motherboard,
the following notes apply to you:

  1. Before attempting to install the Ether16 LAN Card's network
software drivers, you MUST configure the card's internal
settings with the SETUP program included on Ether16 disk 1
under the UTILITY directory. Use the program to set the
card's interrupt (IRQ) and I/O settings. For directions
on using SETUP, see your Ether16 user guide.

  2. Most network software packages like Windows 95, Windows NT,
Novell NetWare, etc., include a "generic" network driver
that will work with a wide range of network cards. This
generic driver is called a "Novell NE2000" compatible driver,
and it is fully supported by the Ether16 card. If your
network software package asks you to choose the name of
the network card you're installing from a list of available
adapters, and you find "NE2000" or "Novell NE2000" listed,
you don't need to follow the directions below---simply choose
to install the NE2000 driver and the Ether16 Card will be
ready for use. THE ETHER16 IS ONLY NE2000 COMPATIBLE
WHEN THE CARD'S PLUG-AND-PLAY MODE IS TURNED OFF. If
your PC has a plug-and-play motherboard, and you wish to
use the generic NE2000 driver, you must run the Ether16
SETUP program and turn the card's plug-and-play mode off.

  Setup
  -----------------------------------------------------------------

    DOS INSTALLATION

The SETUP.EXE program on the MS LAN Manager setup disk contains
a program that lets you specify the driver for a network card.

If you are installing LAN Manager for the first time, answer "Yes"
when prompted for the importation of additional network drivers.
This prompt appears right after completion of the workstation
      installation.

If LAN Manager is already installed in your hard disk, select "Add
New Config" from the Configuration menu. Then, select "Other Driver".

Insert the Ether16 disk 1 in drive A and follow the instructions on
the screen. The SETUP program will copy the necessary NDIS driver
programs from the driver diskette into your hard disk; that is, into
      the LAN Manager directory.

If you're asked to supply the name of the directory where the
Ether16's drivers are located, simply type:

        a:\
                or
        a:\mslanman.dos

After completion of SETUP, your CONFIG.SYS file will be modified to
      reflect the NDIS driver programs.

Reboot your system to affect the changes.

    OS/2 INSTALLATION

The SETUP.EXE program on the MS LAN Manager setup disk contains
a program that lets you specify the driver for a network card.

Run SETUP.EXE from the LAN Manager disk

For a first time installation, answer "Yes" when prompted for the
installation of additional network drivers. This prompt appears
after completion of the workstation installation.

If LAN Manager is already installed on your hard disk, select "Add New
      Config" from the Configuration menu.

     Select "Other Drivers".

Insert the Ether16 disk 1 in drive A and follow the instructions on
the screen. The SETUP program will copy the necessary NDIS driver
programs from the driver diskette into your hard disk; that is, into
      the LAN Manager directory.

If you're asked to supply the name of the directory where the
Ether16's drivers are located, simply type:

        a:\
                or
        a:\mslanman.os2

After completion of SETUP, your CONFIG.SYS file will be modified to
      reflect the NDIS driver programs.

Reboot your system to affect the changes.
