SECTION 3 - HARDWARE INSTALLATION PROCEDURES

Clear a clean, dry space to work on your computer. You will need a
Phillips head screwdriver and/or a flat head screwdriver, and we
recommend you use a container to hold loose screws.

--------------------------------------------------
                ! CAUTION !
If you do not follow the first step, you risk
causing a lockup during installation. !
--------------------------------------------------

1) Change the Display driver to the Standard VGA driver.

Before installing either hardware or software, and before removing
or disabling your current display adapter, start Windows 95 and
change the display driver.

To change to the Standard VGA driver:

Click the right mouse button while the mouse is pointing at an empty
area of the Windows95 desktop. The following menu will appear.
Click on the Properties menu item at the bottom of the menu.

You will now see the Display Properties window. Select the
Settings tab, and select the Change Display Type.button. The
Change Display Type window will open. Select the Change button
in the Change Display Type window.

Some Systems will display the Advanced Display Properties window
instead of a change Display Type window. If your computer
displays one of these click the Change button near the upper right
hand corner of the window to select a device.

In the Select Device window select the Show all devices radio
button, then select (Standard display types) and Standard Display
Adapter (VGA).

Click the OK button, the Close button, the Close button again, and
when the Systems Settings Change window opens select No.

2) Shut down Windows and then turn off your computer and all
peripheral devices attached to it (including monitor).

3) Disconnect the monitor cable from the back or your computer.

Leave the power cable connected so you can discharge your body's
static electrical charge by touching the metal surface of the computer
chassis.

4) Remove the cover of the computer.

See your computer manual for details if needed. Leave your
Screamin'3D hardware in its anti-static bag for now.

5) Remove the installed graphic card or disable the graphics
subsystem on the motherboard.

If the computer has an installed graphics card, unscrew the card from
the computer chassis. If the card sticks, rock it gently from end to
end. Save the screw for use with your Screamin'3D card.

Or, if your computer has a graphics sub-system on the motherboard,
follow the directions in the computer's manual for disabling it.

6) Align your Screamin'3D graphics accelerator with an empty
PCI expansion slot and gently but firmly insert it into place.

Remove your Screamin'3D hardware from its anti-static envelope.
When handling your graphics accelerator, always grasp it by the
outer edge of the circuit board.

Most PCI expansion slots are made of white plastic, and can be
recognized as shorter, two hole slots near the back of the computer.
You may need to remove a covering bracket from the rear of the PCI
expansion slot you have selected.

7) Reassemble Your Computer.

Replace the screw to anchor your Screamin'3D graphics accelerator
in place, and close any open bracket slots with bracket covers if you
have them. Next, replace the computer cover.

8) Connect the monitor cable to the connector on the back of your
Screamin'3D graphics accelerator.

You have completed the installation of your Screamin'3D hardware,
please follow the instruction in Section 4 (below) to complete
installation of your Screamin'3D Video Card.

SECTION 4 - SCREAMIN' 3D DRIVER SETUP & SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

Installing the Screamin' 3D Windows 95 drivers:
1) Turn your computer on.

The first time you start Windows95 after installing your
Screamin'3D board, Windows95 will scan your computer and may
find new hardware. If it does not please restart the computer again.

2) The Windows95 `Plug and Play' feature will ask which driver
you want to install.

Select the "Driver from disk provided by hardware
manufacturer" radio button, and click OK.

3) Load the Screamin'3D Software Installation CD-ROM disk into
your CD-ROM drive and type the path in the dialogue box.

In the dialog box, type D:\WIN95 (where `D' is the drive letter
assigned to your CD-ROM drive).

Click the OK button and the drivers will begin to install.

4) Restart Windows95.

It will take a few seconds for Windows 95 to install the driver files.
When this process completes, you will be asked to restart your
system. Click the Yes button.

When the system restarts, the Screamin'3D drivers will be loaded.

Setting Up the Screamin'3D Graphics Toolkit:
1) Run the Screamin'3D Graphics Toolkit Setup.

This can be done by Click START on the taskbar, then click RUN,
and type D:\WIN95\SETUP in the dialog box (where `D' is the letter
assigned to your CD-ROM drive).

2) After the Screamin'3D Setup Program loads, the Screamin'3D
group window will appear for a few seconds. Wait for the
`Setup Complete' window to appear.

3) Again, restart your computer and setup will be complete.

Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now, and click on the
Finish button. Your computer will restart. You can put away your
Screamin'3D CD-ROM.

You have now completed the installation of your Screamin' 3D
software. To learn how to use Graphics Toolkit, open the Windows 95
Control Panel, Double-click the Display icon, select the Screamin'3D
Information tab, and click on the On-line Manual button.

SECTION 5 - COMMON HARDWARE PROBLEMS

Problem: Upon restarting windows after the card is installed Windows
95 locks up.
Solution: Copy the VGA.DRV file from the \BAKDRV directory on the
Screamin'3D installation CD into the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder,
overwrite the existing file, restart Windows then finish with the
installation.

Problem: Your computer is using the Award BIOS 4.50PG or 4.51PG and
upon restarting your computer with the Screamin 3D installed, the
Screamin 3D Phoenix BIOS is displayed and then your computer locks up.
Solution: There is a known conflict between some revisions of the Award
BIOS and the Screamin 3D BIOS. There is an updated Screamin 3D BIOS
available that corrects this and other problems. The update is called
3DBIOS76.EXE. Please see Section 8 for information on obtaining the
update.

Problem: VGA and/or VESA screens in DOS are distorted or are not being
displayed correctly.
Solution: There is an updated Screamin 3D BIOS available that corrects
this and other problems. The update is called 3DBIOS76.EXE. Please see
Section 8 for information on obtaining the update.

Problem: Your existing video card is built onto your motherboard and
you are having problems getting the Screamin' 3D installed properly.
Solution: The onboard video card MUST be disabled before the
Screamin' 3D will work properly. The best resources for this are your
computer documentation and your hardware manufacturer. On some
systems you may need to change some options in the system BIOS or
possibly reconfigure some jumpers on your motherboard. For more
information contact your hardware manufacturer.

SECTION 6 - COMMON SOFTWARE PROBLEMS

Problem: When installing any or all of the programs (Indycar Racing II,
The Shark Screensaver, and CyberGladiators) from the main installation
CD it shows that the default directory will be C:\SIERRA\SCREAMIN
Solution: Only CyberGladiators will install to the
C:\SIERRA\SCREAMIN directory. The shark screensaver will install to
the C:\WINDOWS directory and IndyCar II will install to the C:\ICR2
directory.

Problem: Install will ALWAYS say that the installation is complete
even if you don't have enough hard drive space.
Solution: Make sure there is enough hard drive space before starting
installation.

SECTION 7 - COMMON GAME ISSUES

CyberGladiators Screamin'3D Bundle Edition:

Problem: The arena selected from the OPTIONS menu is not the
arena during battle.
Solution: The arena selection option is only available when using
2-player mode.

Problem: The game is too dark during battles.
Solution: Press the < \ > key and one of the 5 different brightness
levels will appear. Note: The differences in brightness will be very
subtle.

Problem: The INSTALL appears every time I put the CD in the
drive, even though the game has already been installed.
Solution: This is normal if your computer has AUTOPLAY
enabled. Your options are to select EXIT each time this occurs or
temporarily disable AUTOPLAY by holding the <SHIFT> key while
you insert the CD.

A10-2: Silent Thunder Screamin'3D Bundle Edition:

Problem: The scenery appears blocky.
Solution: Only the fullscreen mode will have textured scenery. If
you are flying a window then press <ALT-Enter> to activate
fullscreen mode. If you are already in fullscreen mode then exit the
mission and return to the MAIN MENU. Select PREFERENCES
and enable the FULLSCREEN box.

IndyCar Racing II Screamin'3D Bundle Edition:

Problem: The game won't start when INDYFAST is entered.
Solution: Some computers won't play the INDYFAST version of
the game. Try INDYSAFE instead.

Problem: The cars can be heard in the background but there is no
video being displayed.
Solution: Some computers won't play the INDYSAFE version of
the game. Try INDYFAST instead.

Problem: The game play while driving is very choppy.
Solution: Press <ALT-R> to display the games frame rate while
driving. The maximum number will be 30. If your number is much
lower then try disabling some of the graphic textures from the
OPTIONS menu. If that doesn't help then press <ALT-X> while
driving. This will disable the mirrors and anti-aliasing (graphic
routines which smooth the graphics).

-You must activate your Brake mechanism before your crew will
service the car. Simply being stopped will not work.

-Unless you specify, your crew will change all 4 tires, fill the gas
tank to full, and repair all damage.

IndyCar Racing Flags:

Green: Go Racing!
During qualifying sessions, the green flag will fly over each lap you
drive that counts toward an official qualifying attempt. During
races, the green flag indicates that the race is underway and drivers
may proceed at full speed.

Yellow: Caution.
An unsafe condition exists, or an accident has occurred somewhere
on the track. All drivers must slow to pace car speed, and stay in
single-file formation (the pace lap at the beginning of a race is the
only time you're required to drive two-by-two). Penalties for
passing illegally under yellow are strictly enforced.

Black: Penalty.
Generally given to a specific driver who has committed a rules
infraction, this flag flying over your car means you must come to a
complete stop in your pit lane for one second (called a "stop and go"
penalty). Once you have done so, you may resume racing. Penalties
are given for exceeding the 80mph pit road speed limit, passing the
pace car, or passing an opponent under yellow. If you ignore the
black flag and refuse to stop, you will be disqualified from the race
after three laps.

White: One Lap To Go!
This flag means that there is only one lap remaining in the race or
qualifying session. It first appears when the lead car crosses the
start/finish line.

Checkered: End Of Race Or Qualifying Run.
The traditional checkered flag waves when the winning car crosses
the start/finish line, or you successfully complete a qualifying run.

Indy Car Championship Season:

The Indy Car circuit: grueling, glamorous, and sometimes
glorious. The Championship Season consists of one race at
each of the Indy Car tracks installed on your computer,
arranged in order of their actual occurrence in the 1995 season.
To win the Driver's Championship you must master a variety of
playing fields: road courses, street circuits, super-
speedways and short ovals.

At the conclusion of each race, top drivers are awarded points
and the standings are updated. At the end of the season, each
drivers total points are tallied.
