Rendition-Enabled Version of Final Fantasy VII (RendFF7)

Date : 1998.10.16 (October 16th, 1998)
Release : 2
Version : 0.95
Category: Beta

Introduction
------------

This executable fixes incompatibilities that previously
prevented running Final Fantasy VII in 3D accelerated mode
on Rendition hardware.

Installation
------------

Replace the FF7.EXE in your main FF7 directory with the
file included in this archive. (Be sure and make a backup of
the original!)
Also replace the FF7Config.exe with the provided
FF7Config.exe.

Running
-------

    1. Run the new FF7 configuration utility.

    2. Select "Primary Display Driver" as your "Display"
setting under the "Graphics" tab. Make sure the RIVA box is
not checked.

    3. Play FF7 as usual, and enjoy the game in its 3D glory!

Known Problems
--------------

Keep in mind that this is an beta version.

0. This version has not been tested with the Rendition V1000
generation of hardware.

1. When transitioning from "walking around" mode to "battle" mode,
the whole screen is supposed to swirl away. Instead, it appears
white.

2. A small number of textures may ocasionally fail to load.
On the V2x00, unloaded textures will appear white. Which
textures, if any, fail to load may vary from configuration to configuration (driver version, for example).

3. Even on an 8 Mb board, there may be performance problems,
depending on your CPU.

4. Occasionally the game seems to crash when attempting to exit
back to Windows.
