@@DRIVE_TABLE
Please select the SyQuest device you want to work on by moving
the cursor up or down until the bar covers the correct device,
 and then press ENTER.

ENTER (RETURN on some systems) always selects the menu entry
that is highlighted, and ESC moves you back to the previous
 menu without performing the function.

The Drive Table menu displays all drives that are recognized
by your system. Only SyQuest IDE devices can be selected by
 this utility.

If your SyQuest IDE device is not on the menu, check your
 installation. Possible reasons are
	1. IRQ conflicts,
	2. Interface cable not attached correctly or is
		upside down,
	3. Power connector not attached to the device,
	4. IDE adapter not installed correctly in bus slot,
	5. IDE adapter BIOS conflicts with something else
in your system (see paragraph below),
	6. You have not run the Parallel to IDE driver program,
	7. One of the components does not work properly.

The last item in the menu, titled "Adapter ROM Map", shows a map
of where Expansion ROM's are installed in your system. You need
to make sure you have set up your IDE adapter so that it does
not conflict with a ROM that is already installed. Refer to
your manual for more information on how to do this.
@@INSTALL_U
This main menu allows you to select options to verify your
hardware installation, partition and prepare your volumes,
 or perform other accessory functions.

 1. Prepare Cartridge For DOS: Allows the display, creation, or
deletion of DOS partitions and volumes.

 2. Installation Verification: Basic seek, start/stop, and
 verify tests.

 3. Other Utilities: Accessory functions such as low and high
 level formats, and door lock/unlock.
@@VERI
This menu allows you to verify your hardware installation and
exercise the basic functions of your drive. The selected drive
already has had to complete many basic selection and read
commands in order to be selected from the opening menu.

None of the tests here will destroy any data on the cartridge.

 1. Random Seek Test: Randomly seeks across the cartridge until
you stop the test. The test will report any errors encountered.

 2. Verify Test: Performs a read-only scan of all sectors on the
cartridge. Any errors encountered are reported.

 3. Stop and Start Test: Spins the cartridge down, and then spins
 it back up again.
@@PREPARE
This menu allows you to display, create, or delete partitions
and volumes on your cartridge. A partition is a contiguous
area that is allocated for specific use by an operating system.
A volume is a logical area within a partition that holds a
unique file system (e.g. DOS volume C:).

When volumes are created, the utility will automatically
 perform the following:

	* Create FAT tables and directories
	* Perform a high level format of the volume
	* If it is the primary volume, system files will
be transferred to make the cartridge bootable
	* If required, the SyQuest driver will be copied to your
boot volume, and the CONFIG.SYS file modified.
You will be asked for permission before this
step is executed onto an existing drive.

 1. Automatic DOS Preparation: This function will execute the
default partitioning method, and prepare the volumes as
described above. The default partitions are different, depending
on the level of DOS you booted with. DOS 3.31 and above will end
up with one large volume on the cartridge. DOS levels 3.30 and below
will have one or more 32 Mbytes volumes and a smaller volume.

 2. Customized DOS Partitions: Allows you to create partitions
of whatever size you want. Also allows you to delete partitions
and volumes you have already created.

 3. Display Extended Volumes: The details on the DOS Extended
Partition volumes that are defined are displayed.
@@CUSTOMIZE
This menu allows you to create or delete partitions and volumes.

Deleting a partition or volume will destroy all the data
contained in that entity. BE CAREFUL!

Two options are presented for creating partitions: Create Primary
or Create Extended. You should always create a primary partition
first on a cartridge. Only a primary partition can be bootable.

An extended (or secondary) partition can occupy any amount of
space on your cartridge. Once you have defined the size of the
extended partition, the utility will step you through dividing
 the extended partition into volumes.

Three forms of deleting are presented. You can delete a DOS
partition, individual volumes within an extended partition, or
everything. The utility will ask you before actually deleting
 the partition or volume.
@@DEL_PART
The Delete Partition menu allows you to visually select a
 partition you wish to delete.

Deleting a partition will destroy all the contents of the
 partition. BE CAREFUL!
@@DEL_VOL
The Delete Volumes menu allows you to visually select a
volume within the extended partition that you wish to delete.

Deleting a volume will destroy all the contents of the volume.
 BE CAREFUL!
@@OTHER_U
The Other Utilities menu is a collection of support functions
that are not required for normal operations.

 1. Surface Analysis of the Entire Cartridge: This function
allows you to perform an extended analysis of the media.
A variety of pre-selected patterns will be run, and any
errors encountered will be reported. This function destroys
 all data on the cartridge.

This option is not available on some versions of SQ2542.

 2. Format a DOS Volume: This allows you to perform a high level
format of a volume, which rebuilds the directories and FAT tables.
All data within the volume will be destroyed.

 3. Re-initialize Cartridge: This function allows you to reformat
the cartridge. This selection will allow you to return the
cartridge to the state like it left the factory. It will destroy
 all data on the cartridge.

This option is not available on some versions of SQ2542.

 4. This option changes the operating mode of the SQ2542.

SyQuest IDE drives can operate in SAFE or UNSAFE mode. Under
SAFE mode, the drive posts media change error on all data commands
after a media change until an ACKNOWLEDGE MEDIA CHANGE COMMAND is
received. In UNSAFE mode, the drive posts media change error only
once, subsequent command will be carried out.

SAFE mode is designed to protect against data corruption when the
host operating system is not removable IDE drive aware.

The SQ3105 operating mode must be set via jumpers.

Please refer to your SyQuest/SyDOS User's Manual.
@@DOS_FMT
Format a DOS Volume will allow you to rebuild the volume
directories and FAT tables. This function is performed
automatically when a volume is created by this utility. This
function is identical to the DOS utility, FORMAT.COM. It will
destroy all data within the volume.
@@ROM
Show all the ADAPTER ROMs in your system between C000:0 and DFFF:F.

If you do not have a SyQuest IDE board, this information is purely
 F.Y.I..

If you need to install your IDE Adapter with BIOS, this can help you
determine which BIOS address to set on the board.

Your IDE Adapter BIOS can be set at C800, CA00, D800 or DC00. The
size of the BIOS is 8K.

The primary ports and IRQ 14 are used by most MFM, RLL or ESDI disk
controllers plus a few SCSI Host Bus Adapters. You must not select
them if you have such board in your system.

IRQ 14 must be used with Primary I/O Ports. If you wish to use them,
you must either enable the BIOS and set your CMOS drive type to
zero, or Disable the BIOS and set up your CMOS drive type.

If you use DOS and do not want to boot from your SyQuest drive, we
recommend that you disable the BIOS, use Secondary ports, and use
 IRQ 15.
