The following instructions describe how to install one
of the VGA extended video drivers for Windows 3.x
        ͼ

step 1 - If you have already installed Windows 3.x on your system, go to
step 2. You do NOT have to reinstall Windows 3.x again to
           change the driver.

If you have NOT installed Windows, run 'SETUP' from the
Microsoft Windows Disk 1 and follow the instructions to install
           Windows.

step 2 - Go to the directory where you have installed Windows 3.x.

step 3 - Type 'SETUP' and press ENTER.

step 4 - Select the 'Display:' option from the System Information list
using the UP- or DOWN-ARROW key and press ENTER.

step 5 - Scroll to the bottom of the Display list using the DOWN-ARROW
key to 'Other' and press ENTER. You will then be asked to
insert the manufacturer's display driver disk.

step 6 - If you INSTALLed the display driver files on you hard-disk
drive, there is no need to insert a diskette. Instead,
backspace over the Windows default entry of 'A:\' and type the
drive and directory where you installed the drivers, then press
ENTER. For example, the INSTALL default location would be
           'C:\WINDOWS\DELL'.

If the drivers _were_ installed on a diskette, put that diskette
in the drive you want to use. Then type in the correct pathname
for the display driver disk if the default path shown is wrong
(i.e. 'B:\' instead of 'A:\') and press ENTER.

step 7 - Select the desired driver from the list that is displayed next
and press ENTER. You may be asked to insert the "VGA Display
Drivers" disk again. If so, type in the _same_ pathname as in
step 6 (replace 'A:\' with 'C:\WINDOWS\DELL' or whatever) and
           press ENTER.

When the driver has been configured, SETUP will display the
           original configuration screen.

step 8 - Choose 'Accept configuration shown above' and press ENTER to
execute the 'Complete Changes' process. Windows will return to
DOS when the configuration has been completed.

    ======================= Installation Complete =======================

  NOTES:

1 - You can NOT run the 'Setup' (icon) within Windows itself to
           install the drivers.

2 - The COLORS.EXE file is a Windows program which will display the
total colors available with the configured driver.

3 - When installing Windows for the first time and electing to
select one of the drivers provided on the VGA Display Drivers
disk, Windows SETUP program at some time will prompt you with
           the following message:

                    Setup needs the following disk

... without giving the name of the disk. It is in fact
requesting the path to the VGA display drivers. So, if the
drivers were installed on a diskette, put that diskette in a
drive and specify the path (i.e. 'A:\'). If the drivers were
installed on a hard-disk drive, just specify the path (i.e.
           'C:\WINDOWS\DELL'). Finally, press ENTER.
