                            AUTO-MODE DETECTION

  Description:          Selects automatic detection and negotiation of
                        line speed during the handshake process

  Description:           Returns the modem to command mode from dumb mode
                         or power-on leased-line operation, you must turn
                         the modem off then on again first.

  Note:                  To permanently turn off dumb mode or power-on
                         leased-line mode, change the stored profile by
                         issuing one of these strings: for dumb mode,
                         AT%D0&W&W1. For power-on leased-line mode,
                         AT&L0&W&W1

                         For External models only.

                            COMMUNICATIONS MODE

  Description:         Selects communications mode

  Note:                 The B command allows the simultaneous selection
                        of more than one suffix, enabling multiple
                        protocols.

  Description:           Dials telephone number according to any
                         modifiers included in the string

  Note:                  Any combination of modifiers can be used to
                         produce the desired dial functions in sequence.

  Description:           Sets the length of time that the modem does not
                         receive information before it disconnects.

  Description:           Maximum duration of DTE and DCE inactivity

  Description:            Returns a value which indicates line signal
                          quality (average EQM value) and received line
                          signal level (in -dBm)

                         is turned on: ATS0=0&L2 originating modem and
