[Original README, with corrected version number.]

DOS-16 CPIO V2.4.2

I have not extensively tested this program! Tell me if you find bugs.
(First make sure they aren't replicated with the 32-bit version in DJGPP's
archives.) The program is built with Turbo C++ 1.01 (use wgdmake to build)
and compressed with UPX 1.01.

Size comparison:

               Uncompressed UPX compressed
     16-bit 50846 28057
     32-bit 123904 61480

No functionality, as far as I know, has been removed except relating to
uid/gid info. Based on the FreeBSD port.

cpio242.zip GNU cpio: Copy In & Out - Archive utility

GNU cpio copies files into or out of a cpio or tar archive. The
archive can be another file on the disk, a magnetic tape, or a pipe.

GNU cpio supports the following archive formats: binary, old ASCII,
new ASCII, crc, HPUX binary, HPUX old ASCII, old tar, and POSIX.1 tar.
The tar format is provided for compatability with the tar program. By
default, cpio creates binary format archives, for compatibility with
older cpio programs. When extracting from archives, cpio automatically
recognizes which kind of archive it is reading and can read archives
created on machines with a different byte-order.

Dosius adds:

Source code for Turbo C++ 1.01 is included, but you only need the
cpio.exe file. Note that testing has been limited, but it appears
to function correctly.

Special requirements: None.

Changes: Based on a newer version of cpio.

Free software, under the GPL. Uploaded by the DOS-16 version compiler.
