Telnet Application ver 2.2.2.3J
===============================

This contains the files for the AVIDTelnet-SSH client for the RIM 950
and 957 devices. This allows you to establish a Telnet or Secure Shell
(SSH1 or SSH2) connection to your routers, servers or network.

You must subscribe to the AVIDTelnet-SSH service to use this client.
Information and pricing is available at www.avidtelnet-ssh.com

INSTALLATION
============

Installation instructions are in the file INSTRUCTION.PDF.

NOTE: This client is for RIM 957 or RIM 950 units with 4MB of Flash.
If you have a RIM 950 with only 2MB of flash, please contact us at
support@avidtelnet-ssh.com to request a client for these devices.

To load the application:

1) Unzip the files to a directory.

2) Using the RIM Desktop Manager Application Loader, load the files
JAVA.ALI and TELNET.ALI onto your RIM.

3) From the RIM, run TELNET APP LOADER, select LOAD from the menu, and
then CLOSE. This will reset your device and you should then see the
icon of a Terminal/PC Desktop on your ribbon. Click on this icon to
run the application.

4) Create a Info host entry to test the connectivity. Click the
roller, choose "New", and create a host entry with these parameters:

	Entry: Info
	HostHame: Info
	   :
	(rest doesn't matter)

Save this entry by clicking the roller and "Save".

5) Now connect to the host "Info". Press the roller and click
"CONNECT". If you can connect to the server you will receive a dialog
box listing the subscriber status, your MAN number and the time. If
you do not see a dialog box (you just see the terminal screen), please
contact us at support@avidtelnetssh.com or call us at (972) 401-3655
or (888) 772-4570 - you are not connecting with the gateway and will
not be able to connect with your own hosts.

6) Create a new host entry for your own system and then CONNECT to it
using steps similar to above. You access the menu by clicking the
roller wheel.

7) At a later time you can use the RIM Desktop Manager to delete the
Telnet entry. DO NOT DELETE THE JAVA ENTRY.

CHANGES
=======

Version 2.2.2.3J
- Fixed problems with control codes and escape keys on RIM950.

Version 2.2.2.1J
- Added function key support for sending either VT100 or Function keys
of the form "Escape,[,<n>,~ where <n> is 11 for F1, 12 for F2, etc.
To send a function key, enter Control mode by pressing Alt (Orange)
and backspace, and then the number for the function key, that is
1=F1, 2=F2. Note you have to press the orange key again to enter
the number.

Version 2.2.1J
- Added automatic selection of US or Canadian Mobitex gateway at
initialization.
- Better support for 950 devices.
- Fixed several bugs that some users encountered.

LIMITATIONS
===========

- This only works on Cingular's Mobitex network in the US and
Rogers/AT&T Mobitex network in Canada.

- SSH1 only supports the MD5, Blowfish and IDEA ciphers.

- SSH2 only supports the MD5, RSA, DES/3DES, AES, Blowfish.

- If you are connecting with a SSH1 host and having problems, try
selecting SSH2 for the entry and try that. The SSH2 software is
different from the SSH1 and it will drop down to some SSH1 modes.
