Please note the following:

1. Hardware requirements.
PC-Estimator full registration system is now supplied in high density
disks, 5-1/4" or 3-1/2" size. Therefore, as a minimum, IBM or compatible
286 or better computer is required. Older XT computers with 360K disk
drives are no longer supported.

2. Program Installation.
The shareware system comes in one diskette. The contents of the disk
should be copied to a hard disk directory. A file called "Config.sys"
should be present in the root directory of the hard disk. This file
should have two lines reading:
        FILES=20
        BUFFERS=24

The program installation given below automatically performs the
procedures explained above. When you receive a copy of the shareware
program, follow the following steps to install the system.

a. Insert shareware disk in drive A (or B)
b. At DOS prompt A> (or B>), type:

        INSTALL     (press Enter)

Then follow screen prompts and instructions.

c. To run PC-Estimator shareware:
Go to the directory where shareware is installed. Default is C:\pcshare).
At DOS prompt, type:

        PCEST           (press Enter)

4. Cost indexation for various cities and states.
Thes full registration version of the system comes with a program called
"citindex". This program will adjust your cost database for cost indexes
in all states and for several cities in the same state, if applicable.
Cost indexes are applied for each of the CSI 16 divisions. Furthermore,
the user can modify existing indexes provided.

5. The full registration version of the PC-Estimator also contains
additional features such as 'Bill of Material' reporting and
'Backup/restore' utility for easily backing up important estimate files
for archive or moving from computer to computer.

5. Important Notice to Microsoft MS-DOS operating system 6 users.
Microsoft MS-DOS 6 users, note the following information supplied by
Microsoft Corporation for Clipper compiled programs.

"After you upgrade to MS-DOS 6, a "not enough memory" error message may
appear or your system may stop responding (hang) when you try to run an
application generated with Computer Associates' Clipper program.

To correct this problem, add the NOEMS and NOVCPI switches to the EMM386.EXE
command in your CONFIG.SYS file. For example:

	device=c:\dos\emm386.exe noems novcpi

The application generated with Clipper should now run on your system.

More Information:
You can also work around this problem by using the RAM switch instead of the
NOEMS switch with EMM386 or you can remove the DEVICE= statement for
EMM386.EXE from your CONFIG.SYS file.

EMM386 is a Virtual Control Program Interface (VCPI) server. VCPI is a
program interface that allows expanded memory services (EMS) emulators and
DOS extenders to coexist within a 80386/80486 environment."

CPR note:
The above MS-DOS correction issued by Microsoft for MS-DOS users is
applicable to CPR programs since all CPR Estimating and Jobcost programs are
Clipper compiled. If you do not use MS-DOS 6, save this note for possible
future reference.
