                          How to use Drag Logger.

Drag Logger has on the screen prompts. This file is just to give you an idea
of what to do and expect.

Make a directory called "Draglog". It is important that it be made from the
C:\ so when in it, it looks like this: C:\Draglog
Unzip or copy the unzipped files into this directory.
Why? Drag Logger has built in instructions to write to this directory. This
makes it very easy to keep track of your files and keeps your system tidy.
No hunting for rogue files! You will appreciate this feature later.

Time to get started!

Type Draglog1 and this starts the program. You will see the intro screens and
the sound file will be heard. (Sound card settings are A220 I5 D1.) These are
the default settings for most sound cards.
Now lets put in a new Car or Driver. Select 1 and you will be prompted to
make an entry. Here are some examples of a good entry:

1 - Camero/Steve (The number 1 will be the file number for this car).

57 T-Bird (The number 57 will be the file number for this car).

27 Black Chevy Funny Car (Guess what the file number is? (Hint: 27).

I think you get the idea now! Don't duplicate numbers! When you hit enter
a file is written called "Cars.txt". All car/driver entries can be found in
this file from now on.

Ok, You just made a pass (or you've written it down from the track).
Select 2 and you will be asked which file to open. Enter the number you used
for the car entry eg..1, 57, 27.(Much easier than retyping THE WHOLE NAME!)
Drag Logger now asks for you to enter your data.

Example:
The file opened is: # 57

Enter your ET:

1.402 (Hit enter)

Enter your MPH:

32.45 (Hit enter)

Enter a comment:

Changed gear ratio to 350. (Hit enter) (Hitting enter with no comment
                                         just leaves leaves it blank)

Is this correct? 'Y', 'N', 'Q' (Get me out of here!)

If 'Y' is selected it writes the data to file 57 and back to the main screen.
If 'N' is selected it clears the entries and you can start over.
If 'Q' is selected its back to the main menu and nothing is saved.

Now lets take a look at what you've done!

Select 3 and you will get a list of the Cars/Drivers.
Select 4 and you can view a file with out adding to it.
Select 5 and its time to quit.

PANIC!! I've made an entry I dont want! (for whatever reason)
No problem......just exit Drag Logger and use your favorite editor to correct
it. All files are written in open text making it a snap to correct.
When Drag Logger is restarted everything will be fine since it reads only
whats in the files. Remember, if you edit the number in Cars.txt you MUST
rename the data file to match it or Drag Logger won't be able to find it!
Changing only the name or spelling is ok.
You can even add to the comments if you forgot something while editing.

Printing a file:

After a while you might want to print a hard copy to keep or maybe the file
is just getting too big and you want to start a new one. Use your favorite
printing tool, open text files remember?
Then just delete the file number. You don't have to edit the Cars.txt file
unless you don't want that car on the list. Drag Logger will make a new
numbered file the next time you enter data in it.

Thats about it. You now have a way to make changes to your car and keep
track if they were good or not. No more scrap notes that get lost or you
forgot what they went to.

NOW>>>> MAKE IT FASTER!!!!!!
