DC ("Directory Comments") TIPS and IMPORTANT NOTES:

In order for DC to behave like a new Dos command, you must put "DC.EXE"
(displays files in alphabetical order) and/or "DCU.EXE" (displays files
unsorted) in the "COMMAND" directory/folder, sub-directory to "WINDOWS"(95/98)
directory/folder, or "DOS" directory for Dos and Windows 3.1 computers.

  "DIR-COM.LOG" UPDATING:

Any comments added or edited and/or any files that have been added, removed,
renamed in a directory, or an "import" will cause "DIR-COM.LOG" to be replaced
when you exit DC. If you use the file viewer to view "DIR-COM.LOG", you will
NOT see the changes, since "DIR-COM.LOG" was not replaced yet (will be
replaced at exit).

  IMPORTANT NOTE:

There is no reason I could think of for you to put "DIR-COM.LOG" into a
text editor. If the text editor adds an EOF character, and you replace the
"DIR-COM.LOG", DC will not accept the log ("LOG is corrupted...." message).
To fix the log, use another editor that does not add an EOF character (should
remove it).

  CURSOR APPEARS AND DISAPPEARS:

When you move the edit bar in DC, the flashing cursor is removed. When you
press any of the "legal" edit keys such as text characters, cursor left,
right, backspace, delete, home, and end, the cursor will appear. Note: Tab is
not used.

  CARRIAGE RETURN SYMBOL:

When editing comments, if you type over the carriage return symbol, no
problem, because the carriage return (plus line feed) is automatically added
at the end of a line (past text).

OLDER DOS (V6.X AND OLDER) NOTE:

The "DIR" command reports how many "files" are in the directory. The older
Dos also counts sub-directories including the "." and ".." as "files". When
you move to the last file using DC, the "FILE" number will reflect the actual
number of files in the directory/folder.

  SORTED OR UNSORTED "DIR-COM.LOG"

A sorted "DIR-COM.LOG" is the results of using DC.EXE. DCU.EXE creates an
unsorted log. If you want to convert an unsorted "DIR-COM.LOG" to a sorted
version (or vise versa), simply type DC (or DCU) and type over a character
with the same character (or add a comment) to force an "update" action.

  "DIR-COM.LOG":

A "DIR-COM.LOG" is included as an example. When you execute DC (or DCU),
those files, along with other files (if) in the directory where you unzipped
"DIR-COMx.ZIP", will be displayed. You can see the comments for DC related
files. NOTE: If you had other files in the directory, "DIR-COM.LOG" will be
"updated" to include those other files.

  IMPORT TIP:

After you copy files, which have comments in "DIR-COM.LOG", to another
location, go to that other location and use the "Import" (F5) feature to
"import" those comments. See "DC.TXT" for details.

  IMPORTANT NOTE:

Files that you delete or rename with comments will be removed from the log
the next time you use DC. In case the comment/s of a deleted or renamed
file/s is important, the "DIR-COM.LOG" is renamed to "DIR-COM.BAK", before the
new (updated) "DIR-COM.LOG" is created.
