IDEMO.EXE is a self extracting executable that will present a license
agreement, and upon acceptance of that agreement it will extract into
eight files, the primary executable IMAGER.EXE and accompanying TXT,
BAT, PIF and ICO files. These files will extract into the directory
from which IDEMO.EXE is run. If you have problems with this self
extracting executable visit www.ingot.com on the Internet or contact
Paul Reilly via e-mail at paul@ingot.com or by phone at (617) 576-9595.
This shareware version of the program can be freely distributed and is
available for testing and evaluation purposes only. Refer to the
license agreement for more information.

The Disk Imager is a DOS application that can create an image of a PC's
hard disk, store it as a file on another device such as a second disk or
network server, and then restore that image to a PC with the exact same
size and type of disk.

ALTHOUGH THE DISK IMAGER IS A DOS APPLICATION, NOTE THAT IT CAN BACKUP AND
RESTORE ALL DATA ON A DISK NO MATTER WHAT TYPE OF FILE SYSTEMS, PARTITIONS
OR OPERATING SYSTEMS ARE IN USE. THIS INCLUDES SETUP PARTITIONS, BOOT
MANAGER PARTITIONS, MICROSOFT'S FAT AND NTFS AND IBM'S HPFS FILE SYSTEMS,
PRIMARY AND EXTENDED PARTITIONS, LOGICAL DRIVES, ETC.

Uses for this tool include PC maintenance, PC distribution, computer
training room maintenance, lab maintenance, and the backup and restoration
of workstations, servers and other PC systems. In any of these types of
situations it can take hours to set up a single PC since you normally have
to prepare the disk with utilities such as FDISK and FORMAT, install and
configure the various operating systems and network connectivity, install
and configure software applications and then test everything to ensure
things work properly. The Disk Imager can help you avoid repeated work by
creating images for each type of system you have. You can set up a
standard disk once and create a backup image of it; then whenever you need
to set up a new disk of that type simply restore the saved image. You can
start a backup or restore process and walk away. In addition, the process
itself is relatively quick.

Since hard disks are relatively inexpensive and large removable drives are
now available, such as IOMEGA's Jaz drive, some people may want to use
the Disk Imager as a backup solution for work or home. You can image an
entire disk (with compression in the official release) to another disk on a
regular basis to ensure ALL your data is safe, including operating system
information. This way you can avoid the costs and delays involved working
with tape backup systems, and you can also use any remaining space on that
second disk for the purpose of storage or to backup individual files which
change frequently simply by copying them or using some other utility.

Disk Imager.
