  IMPORTANT NOTE:

If you move a file/s from one location to another in your hdd after you have
created a "reference" file, those relocated files will be reported as "new" or
"missing", depending on the mode you use in NM. The "new" or "missing" file/s
is based on their location (no longer at one location ("missing"), but present
at another ("new")).

  ATTENTION WINDOWS USERS:

Always execute "MAKELIST.BAT" in Dos mode before launching Windows.
Otherwise, you will NOT get a "true" report. Windows changes many files
during it's startup.

  DOS MODE:

During bootup, when (if) you see the message, "Starting Windows 95/98",
press the F8 key. Next, select "Command prompt only". If your PC doesn't
display that message, consult the manual on how to intercept the boot up
sequence for Dos mode (Windows not launched). When "MAKELIST" is finished,
simply type "WIN" to launch Windows.

Another method is to use a Dos boot floppy disk to "boot" your computer into
Dos mode. If you do not have one, at the Dos "prompt", with a blank floppy in
the A: drive, type (without quotes), "FORMAT A: /U /S" and press Enter. At the
"volume" prompt, you can press Enter or type (example) "DOS-BOOT".

  "DOS FIX":

"Dos Fix" (free utility) is included (read the "DOS-FIX.TXT" file) so you
can fix "COMMAND.COM" in order to get a complete list (via "MAKELIST.BAT") of
every directory and file in your HD (hard drive). Otherwise, hidden
directories (and/or directories with the system attribute set) and all files
within those directories will be missed.
