                             ZIP&GO IN WINDOWS

Because ZIP&GO is a DOS utility, its use in WINDOWS is not detailed in ZDOC,
and the files 2WINREAD.TXT (this file) and the *.ICO files are not included
in the file list; however, valid files carry the time stamp 5/01/95.

ZIP&GO can be run from WINDOWS in the usual manner by first shelling to or
quitting to DOS and then entering ZG DIRNAME.

ZIP&GO can be run directly from WINDOWS, but since commands executed in DOS
 return to WINDOWS upon completion:

   1. HELP, TGT/BAT, and FILE NOT FOUND screens which would be displayed if
running from DOS will not appear.

   2. Directories with no runfile (.TGT file) will be unzipped then returned
to WINDOWS. To run the program shell to or quit to DOS and enter the
runfile name. To rezip the directory enter ZG DIRNAME.

   3. Directories of programs that must be executed from WINDOWS will not
automatically run after unzipping, nor will they be automatically
updated and rezipped after running (see RUNNING WINDOWS PROGRAMS).

                     RUNNING DOS PROGRAMS FROM WINDOWS

The directory and the file that runs the program must have the same name.
For example, if the directory is EXCEL, and the name of the file that runs
the program is EXCEL.BAT, EXCEL.COM, or EXCEL.EXE, follow the instructions
in RUNNING FROM FILE MANAGER or RUNNING FROM ICONS. If the name of the file
that runs the program in directory EXCEL is generic, such as GO, RUN, START,
etc., then a .TGT or a .BAT file must first be created in the directory.

To create a .TGT or .BAT file in and zip the directory enter ZG DIRNAME in
DOS, or open WINDOWS and follow these steps (Note: the Shareware version of
ZIP&GO can only be run from drive C):

   1. Open FILE MANAGER.
   2. Select FILE.
   3. Select RUN.
   4. Enter ZG DIRNAME = NONE (if there is no runfile).
ZG DIRNAME = WORD (WORD = runfile name).
   5. Click on OK or hit ENTER.
   6. Follow instructions in RUNNING FROM FILE MANAGER or RUNNING FROM ICONS.

                            RUNNING FROM ICONS

Any generic icon can be used, but an assortment of ZIP&GO icons has been
included on the installation disk. To copy the files from the floppy disk
enter: COPY A:\*.ICO C:\ZG (substitute B, if B is the floppy drive).

A PROGRAM ITEM can be created for each zipfile and placed in an existing
PROGRAM GROUP or a new ZIP&GO PROGRAM GROUP can be created and all of the
ZIP&GO PROGRAM ITEMS placed in that group.

                         CREATING A PROGRAM GROUP

   1. Close any open groups in PROGRAM MANAGER.

                          RUNNING WINDOWS PROGRAMS

Zip the directory from DOS or from FILE MANAGER, creating a .TGT or .BAT
file, if necessary, as noted in ZIP&GO IN WINDOWS.

Open the PROGRAM GROUP that contains the WINDOWS program you wish to process
with ZIP&GO. Create a ZIP&GO PROGRAM ITEM, following the steps noted in
ADDING PROGRAM ITEMS, and place the icon adjacent to the program icon.

To unzip the directory, click on the ZIP&GO icon, then select UNZIP from the
ZIP&GO menu. When returned to WINDOWS, click on the program icon. When
returned to WINDOWS After exiting from the program, click on the ZIP&GO icon
to update and rezip the directory.

For example: Directory EXCEL is in a PROGRAM GROUP called APPLICATIONS.

EXCEL.EXE runs the program in directory EXCEL.

Enter ZG EXCEL from DOS or FILE MANAGER to zip the directory.

Create a new PROGRAM ITEM in the APPLICATIONS PROGRAM GROUP,
and name it EXCEL, but use a ZIP&GO icon to distinguish it
from the EXCEL icon. Position the ZIP&GO EXCEL icon next to
               the EXCEL program icon.

               1. Click on the ZIP&GO icon to unzip the directory.
               2. When returned to WINDOWS, click on the EXCEL icon to run.
               3. When returned to WINDOWS, click on the ZIP&GO icon to rezip.

Note: When the EXCEL directory is zipped, clicking on PROPERTIES displays
a generic icon, since the EXCEL icon cannot be accessed from the
zipfile. However, the EXCEL icon will continue to display properly,
as long as no changes are made in PROPERTIES while the directory is
        zipped.

Clicking on the EXCEL icon when the directory is zipped will result
in an error message. Just click on the ZIP&GO EXCEL icon.

                                                                         L.K.
