                                ATTENTION!
                                ==========

                  This experiment requires an experimenter.

                     You can not perform it on your own.

   Instructions will consist of instructions for the experimenter and
   instructions for the subject. Please read instructions carefully.

  TO THE EXPERIMENTER:
  ===================

  Your task is to record subjects performance by pressing the appropriate
  keys on the keyboard.

  Whenever your subject responds to the stimulus on the screen by naming
  a colour you must press ENTER or RETURN key. Press the key as soon as
  the subject responds in order to obtain correct reaction time.

  Once you've pressed ENTER a message will appear on the screen asking
  you to enter the subjects response, by pressing a key.

  1=BLUE
  2=GREEN
  3=YELLOW
  4=RED
  5=PURPLE
  6=WHITE

  You are encouraged to mark the keyboard in order to speed up the process
  of identification of appropriate keys.
  During the practice trials subjects will be given audio-visual feedback.
  When a subject makes an error, error message will be flashed on the
  screeen. The next trial would not begin until you press a button. If
  the subject responds correctly next trial will automatically be presented.

  TO THE SUBJECT:
  ==============

  Your task in the present experiment is to decide, as quickly as possible
  and without making unnecessary errors, what colour was presented on
  the screen.

  On some trials colour patches will be presented. In that case your task
  will be to simply name the colour of the presented patch. On other trials
  colour names will be presented. Each colour name will be presented in
  colour different from the colour it named. So, a word BLUE may be presented
  in green. Your task is to name the actual colour in which a word is presen-
  ted and NOT a colour name. So, if the word BLUE is printed in GREEN the
  correct response would be GREEN and not BLUE.

  The following colours will be used:

                                BLUE
                                GREEN
                                RED
                                YELLOW
                                PURPLE
                                WHITE

  You have to response as quickly as you can without making errors.
  Experimenter will record both the accuracy and the reaction time.

 During practice trials you will be given audio-visual feedback every time
 you make an error.

 Press 'L' now to hear the tone that will be sounded when you make an error.

 No such feedback will be given during experimental trials.

 To summarize:

 '1' = No, the presented word is not a name for a colour
 '0' = Yes, the presented word is a name for the colour

 Try to respond as quickly as possible without making errors.
