Installation
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Directory Control presumes you already have the following dos commands.
PKUNZIP.EXE, PKZIP.EXE, ARJ.EXE, LHARC.EXE & RAR.EXE. If you don't have these
it is recommended you get them and place them in C:\DOS or C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND
Unzip the file DIRCON.ZIP to the desired location.
 eg pkunzip dircon.zip c:\dircon -d
    pkunzip dircon.zip c:\windows\command -d
    pkunzip dirocn.zip c:\dos -d
Edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT file to ensure the PATH statement includes the
directory which contains DIRCON.
It is suggested that at first run DIRCONF.EXE to configure Directory Control
as desired.
Select 'START-UP OPTIONS' and then check the 'WINDOWS 95 LONG FILE NAMES' box
Select 'DRIVES BUTTONS' and then select 'AUTO DETECT DRIVES'
Now run DIRCON.EXE
Notes For Dos
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The default configuration is configured for Win9x .
Delete the files TYPES1.DAT and the rename or copy TYPES1.DOS to TYPES1.DAT

Notes For Windows 3.1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Use the DIRCON.PIF file.
Notes For Windows 95, Win98, WinME, NT4, Win2000
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Directory Control File Types
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Using Windows 95 , 98 , 2000, ME & NT. Check the file types.
These File Types are linked to Windows.
*.HTM *.AIF *.AV  *.SND *.DCX *.AWD *.GIF *.JPE *.JPG *.JIF *.XBM
*.HLP *.URL *.SHB *.MSG *.RMI *.MID *.RA  *.RAM *.RTF *.INF *.DOS
*.TTF *.AVI *.WAV *.PCX *.BMP
When adding your own Windows executable to the File Types
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It seems Windows 95 doesn't like a screen change between graphics mode
and text mode while trying to execute a Windows application, and will
come up with a message saying it cannot run in windowed mode.
This can be avoided by ticking Configuration | File Types | Wait For Key
option, or by using Configuration | File Types | Don't Swap
All default Windows 95 File Types have the above option turned on.

Note: When Configuration | File Types | Don't Swap is ticked DOS
      applications may run out of memory, this option is not required
      for DOS applications.

Messages from Windows 95
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For any message that Windows 95 brings up about windowed mode, or lack
of graphics memory, simply press okay and forget about it.
Once DirCon has been un-iconified from a warning, Windows 95 will not
bother you with the message any more.
