 V3.4 IMPROVEMENT:

  1. Browsing (changing directories/folders) Enhanced.

Now, when you go "down" a level(s), when you return (go "up"), you will
return to the position(s) you were at, not at the "top" of each directory.

------------------------------------------------
 V3.3 IMPROVEMENTS:

  1. New Feature:

Now you have the option to duplicate a directory "tree" without duplicating
any files (creates an empty tree).

  2. Enhanced:

If files are "marked" when you press Esc (exit FM), which could be
accidental such as when viewing a file and you press Esc twice, you will be
notified with an option to return.

--------------------------------------------------
 V3.2 IMPROVEMENTS:

  1. New F6 Feature:

A new feature (5) allows you to see what files you have marked "here"
(current directory) are missing (if) in "there" (other location), without
actually comparing any files. This is a quick way to check if any files are
missing in a backup (example).

  2. F10 Enhanced:

F10 allows you to go to a specific sub-directory/folder or file without
looking for it. Now, you can repeat that function (same name) without
entering the name again simply by pressing Shift and F10.

---------------------------------------------------
 V3.1 IMPROVEMENTS:

   1. New Feature:

Now you can change drives from within FM.

   2. Enhancements:

Directories/folders are always displayed at the top (in green) for faster
browsing.

The quantity of directories and files are displayed as separate numbers.

Directories can be displayed when "SPEC" (specific) files are selected.
Also, the user pattern for "SPEC" (example "*.HTM") will also be displayed as
a reminder.

A handler for "access denied" files (example "WIN386.SWP") has been
installed to avoid a "foul up" when using FM at the Dos prompt under Windows.

  3. Rare Event Bug Fixed:

In the event that you launched FM while in the A: drive with a blank floppy
disk, or you changed to that drive (via FM), this would have caused a problem,
but not anymore.

---------------------------------------------------
 V3.0 IMPROVEMENTS:

   1. New Feature (F9):

This feature switches (toggles) off/on LFN functions. Note: As of this
release, the only LFN function is a display when FM is launched via Windows
95/98/etc. at the Dos prompt or other.

   2. New Feature, Other Dates and Time Display:

This feature is available via Windows 95/98/etc. at the Dos prompt or
other. A file's creation date and time, as well as the last access date, is
displayed.

   3. New Feature (F10) Seek (goto) File or Folder/Directory:

This feature allows you to enter the name (or part of) a file or directory
and searches for it (goto).

  4. Directories/Folders Display:

Directories are now displayed by default when FM is launched, incase a
directory doesn't have any files. Also, this feature has been modified to
include automatic control. Example: If you move or delete all files in
a directory with only files display mode turned on.

  5. Enhancements:

The display for viewing files has been enhanced for better contrast.
Other minor enhancements have been made.

--------------------------------------------------------
 V2.9 IMPROVEMENTS:

  1. New Feature (option): Add directories/folders (Browse, etc.).

Now you have the option to display files and directories/folders instead of
files only (default). Pressing F8 toggles between those two modes. When
directories are displayed, you can browse by simply moving the "bar" over
the directory name and press Enter to enter that directory. To move back or up
a "level", move to ".." and press Enter.

  2. "Total Bytes" Report Bug Fixed.

If you mark files and the total bytes exceeds 655,359,999, a "divide
overflow" error occurs because the procedure that displays numbers can't
handle it. Now, if that occurs, the number is converted to a K value (ex.
"679,566K" = 679.566 megabytes).

---------------------------------------------------------
 V2.8 IMPROVEMENT:

The rename feature has been enhanced in order to avoid a possible error
confusion. Since the rename function uses the 8.3 format, if a user makes a
mistake in renaming a file, example, a user tries to rename "FREQBAND.DOC" to
"FREQBAND1.DOC", this will cause an error because the basename "FREQBAND1"
has 9 characters which will be truncated to 8, "FREQBAND". As a result, this
will be the same as renaming a file with the same filename. The error will
occur, but now the user will see the results of the truncated filename.
-------------------------------------------------------------
 V2.6 & V2.7 IMPROVEMENTS:

  Tree/Disk Duplication or Compare Enhanced:

  1. Now you can see the progress (number of files transferred) during a
tree/disk duplication or compare process. Note: The number of files count is
updated after each directory/folder is transferred.

  2. A double "beep" will let you know when the job is done.

  3. No Files, F7 Option:

If you launch FM in a directory/folder that has no files, you will be
presented with an option to access special functions (F7) incase you want to
duplicate (or compare) a "tree" or disk without a file in the "parent" (or
root) directory.

  Path Error Bug Fixed:

If you use "Special Functions" (F7) number 5 "Compare all tree/disk..."
and make a mistake entering a path for the report file, an improper return
(bug) occurs, if a report is generated due to a mismatch or missing file/s.
As a result, this may cause a "crash". That fault has been corrected.

---------------------------------------------------------------
 V2.5 IMPROVEMENTS:

  1. New View Mode ("Filtered Text") Added to The File Viewer:

Now there are three view modes for the file/s viewer. "Filtered text" was
added to make it easier to view the text in files that contain non-text
"characters" which can be a distraction.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
 V2.4 IMPROVEMENTS:

  1. New Step Saving Features (options):

Now you can launch FM with a command "tail" to go immediately to a specific
file in the files display. Example: Type (without quotes) "FM FM.DOC" to go
immediately to "FM.DOC" or type "FM FM" (partial) to go to the first file that
starts with "FM".

Also, you can launch FM with a wildcard in the command "tail". Example:
"FM *.DOC" to display all .DOC files (only) immediately.

------------------------------------------------------------------
  V2.3 IMPROVEMENTS:

  1. New feature: Specify Files by Date (option):

A new option was added to the F7 options that allows you to display all (or
specified type) files of a specific date, before a specific date, or after
a specific date. This will make it easier to perform an action (Copy,
Delete, Move, View, etc.) on those files by "filtering out" (won't be
displayed) all the other files.

An example of the usefulness of this new feature, delete all files in the
"CACHE" directory/folder before 01-08-01. You no longer have to view the
date of each file before you "mark" (tag) it. You simply "mark" all files
after you set the date (via F7-2).

  2. Specified files (F7) Improvement:

If you use the F7 options and specify a specific file type (ex. "*.HTM")
to be displayed only, if none exists, FM will return you to the F7 options
instead of exiting to Dos.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
  V2.2 IMPROVEMENTS:

  1. Duplicate a Directory Tree (structure) Enhancement:

I recently replaced a HD (Hard Drive) with a new larger capacity HD and
needed to copy everything (many directories/sub-directories and thousands of
files) to the new HD. Therefore, I enhanced the "Duplicate a Directory Tree"
function to include an entire disk. NOTE: If you have two floppy drives, one
is a 5.25 and another is 3.5, you can copy a 5.25 to a 3.5 disk. This is not
the same as Dos's "Disk Copy" which uses track (cylinder) to track copy and
requires two identical disks types.

  2. NEW FEATURE, Compare a Directory Tree or Disk:

After everything was copied to the new HD, I wanted to confirm that every
file copied to the new HD was exactly the same as the files in the old HD.
This new feature compares (byte to byte) every file in every directory of a
tree or disk with it's duplicate tree or disk. Missing (in duplicate) or
mis-matched files will be logged in a report file. The report file will
contain the path/directory(s) and the file(s) involved.

Please read, "FM.DOC" for important details.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
  V2.1 IMPROVEMENTS:

 1. NEW FEATURE: Duplicate a Directory "Tree" (Structure):

FM will copy a complete (all files and all sub-directories including those
with special attributes such as hidden, system, etc.) directory "tree". The
attributes in the duplicate will be the same as the source. An extra feature
puts all sub-directories at the top of each directory in the destination
(duplicate). The files will be below in the same order as the source. I
believe most people (myself included) like it that way. One thing FM will
not copy are long filenames. However, a utility now under development will
be available FREE to all "donors" if they request it. This utility will
restore all long filenames in a directory tree duplicate. My motive is to
duplicate a Windows (95/98) directory "tree" in real Dos without using
Windows. NOTE: "XCOPY" (real Dos) and others I tried did not do a complete
job.

  2. NEW FEATURE: Copy the File's Attributes too Option (F1 Copy function):

There may be times when you use the Copy (F1) function to copy a file/s and
would like files with special attributes (hidden, read only, system) to
have those same attributes in the destination. This option is now available.

  3. Search for a Text Pattern (Viewing a File/s) Improved:

When viewing a file, if you see a pattern that you want to search for in
other locations, you can enter the pattern while viewing it. Complex
patterns are difficult to remember when another screen pops up and you no
longer see the pattern to enter at the prompt.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

  V2.0 NEW FEATURE:

Search (option) for a text pattern has been added to the file/s viewer.
Search mode options include case sensitive or insensitive, "Wildcard" (ex.
"02-**-00"), and "Exclusive", which helps you find exactly what you want (ex.
"ram" and not "frame"). NOTE: You can browse without losing sight of
highlighted (matched) patterns.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

  V1.9 NEW FEATURES:

 1. SPECIFY WHICH FILES TO DISPLAY (F7) OPTION:

This option allows you to specify (examples) "*.HTM", "*.TXT", "D*.*",
"*.INI", "*.EXE", etc. to be displayed only. This new feature is very useful
when you have a variety of different file types in a directory, and you are
only interested in a specific type. If you wanted to view or compare (to the
same elsewhere) all the "*.INI" files in the directory, using this feature is
beneficial. Tip: Simply "Mark" (Shift and F1) all files since they
("specified") will be the only ones displayed.

 2. KEEP MARKERS (MARKED FILES) AFTER COPY OR COMPARE FILES OPTION:

This new feature saves you the trouble of remarking the same files after
you perform a Copy or Compare action. NOTE: Other "keep marked files marked"
options (F6) for Comparing files is different than this.

This new feature is useful if you want to copy a group of files (Marked)
to more than one destination, or if you want to copy a group of files, then
compare them to verify that the files are the same (good copy).

Also, this new feature is useful if you want to compare the same group of
files (Marked) to more than one destination.
