EVERYONE tells me don't put out new versions so fast, no one will
register because they think they'll get ripped off. I can sympathize,
one month after I bought Visual Basic 2, Visual Basic 3 came out.
However anyone who registers automatically gets the best versions I
have so far, usually higher than what's otherwise available. Example,
anyone who registered version 2.x will receive 3.0, but I recognize
the dilemma of wanting to get the most for your buck and those who
register will get side programs not otherwise available, REFORMAT
which works with READDX and ZIP RUNNER, DXLITE, a stripped down
version minus on-line help and setup (don't lose your normal version
in case you want to change your setup), + the most recent copies of
both READDX and ZIP RUNNER + other shareware and all for under $20.
Version 3 was made to last for awhile so there is no reason to
delay, please register soon.

Differences between READDX and ZIP RUNNER, are more in function
rather than in form. ZIP RUNNER 3.0 is meant primarily as a program
manager for zipped files whereas READDX 3.0 (Version numbers are the
same to avoid confusion, if ZIP RUNNER 1.0 is based on READDX 3.0
then what would ZIP RUNNER 2.0 be based on?) is primarily meant to be
a file reader and so ships without running capacity. Also I hope
READDX is building name recognition and I would not wish to stop
adding improvements to it as it expands beyond its original purpose.
ZIP RUNNER could have been made minus READDX's file reading capacity
but why? Shouldn't we programmers be striving to make the best programs
possible? Thus the reasoning behind the MASTER (exact name not
finalized) which will do most anything file manager utilities do
plus some things others haven't thought of yet (as far as I know).
If you are waiting for it before registering, don't wait. When it will
be out, if enough people will register these to warrant a shareware
distribution, these are unknowns. All that I know is I have made and
have conceptualized enough of its features that it will be made and
it will be really something else.

The following is from the original READ1ST.TXT plus a new
registration option via Compuserve.

READDX was designed as a book reader for computers. Design is
everything for a program like this. Even reading for a few hours can
really bug out your eyes, thus the more colors and hues for background
and texts, the greater chance you will find one most suitable for your
eyes. The list of features is also impressive but the look and feel was
and still is the highest priority. Features include....

-*- over a 1/4 million colors as easy to adjust as colors on a TV
 -*- automatic file decompression
-*- automatic pagination, page count, go to, line count, search count
-*- saved video settings, colors, lines, accessible from any directory
-*- adjustable indentation to center different styled text files
-*- supports unlimited size text files (War and Peace? --no problem!)
-*- 4 number of lines settings, from 25 to 50 lines on screen
-*- keyboard keys AND arrow keys AND mouse AND joystick options
 -*- multiple print options

Notable negatives: Good use of negative space, namely the absence of
sidebars & bottom bars to frame your text and distract your attention.
Text covers the whole screen, but not too much so to be hard to read.
A help bar appears only when striking an incorrect key leaving you
free of information you only need 1 or 2 times. The mouse interface was
difficult to conform to these standards but it succeeds well giving
you multiple choices with minimal screen clutter, and even then only
when choosing to use a mouse.

Slavish attention to the details of appearance is what I hope will set
this program (present and future versions) apart from all others (past,
present, and future imitations) but it can only be new once. A new
version is in the works that will make even this program look outdated
(and might only initially be available to registered users) hopefully
keeping me ahead the pack. If you like this program, please register
soon using the included order form, order.txt.

(Hint: Try a medium gray, with a faded reddish, bluish, greenish or
purplish tint and light gray or light blue text, it's easiest on
     the eyes.)
(Note: This program should be moved to your DOS directory to be
     easily accessed from any directory.)
