1.) BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Product Description: BearPros help you manage your personal financial
accounts. Your Checking, Savings, & Investments on the
Asset side. Your Credit Cards, Mortgages, & Auto Loans
  	on the Liability side.

Manage any type of account and reconcile your books balances
and transactions to the statements from the Financial Companies
  	who	hold your accounts.

The software runs on 386 processors or better running a DOS,
    Windows or Windows95/98 operating system.

There are 2 personal financial accounting programs.

Evaluation 1 without departments is $12.95 for the first year.

Evaluation 2 with departments is $21.95 for the first year.

The evaluations are limited by the amount of information
they will hold.

Additional years are $1 per year with your initial order.

The 16-bit DOS software runs on PCs with 386 processors
& 4 megabytes of RAM or better.

The 32-bit DOS software runs on PCs with 486 processors
& 8 megabytes of RAM or better.

Both versions will run in the MS-DOS window of Windows 95/98
and they take advantage of the faster processors, additional
RAM, and wider data paths that are typically found with
Windows 95/98 operating systems. Acnsof's products
especially like additional RAM to work with. And
the 32-bit version takes advantage of 32-bit
data paths. We don't know if any software
today takes advantage of 64-bit data paths,
please email your comments.

You can use the mouse to manage the MS-DOS window found
in Windows 95/98. You can also use the Alt+Enter keys
simutaneously to toggle the MS-DOS window between the
old familiar DOS type style and Window's fonts.

2.) INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Create a directory named BearPros and move the files
pb16e.exe and abb.txt to the Bearpros directory. It
would also be a good idea to transfer the rest
of the files that you unpacked from pb16e.zip
to the BearPros directory. If you have already
established a new directory for these files it is
ok to use your new directory name. The programs will
run in any directory; it is a good idea to
give them their own directory.

If you have the 32 bit version replace
pb16e with pb32e in the previous paragraph.

3.) STARTING INSTRUCTIONS:
From Windows95/98 enter these commands:
	hit the start key
	select run
	\bearpros\pb16e and click ok.

	alt+enter toggles the display between
	windows and dos type styles.

From DOS enter these commands:
	cd\
	cd bearpros
	pb16e

Follow the instructions on your computer's screen.
ONE QUICK OVERVIEW: the [up] and [down] arrow keys
change the selection, the current selection is
highlighted and you choose it and move a level
into the program with the [Enter] key. The [Esc]
key brings you out of the programs one level
at a time.

If you have the 32 bit version replace
pb16e with pb32e in the previous paragraph.

4.) USER'S GUIDE:
You may be able to use the programs by starting
them up and reading the on screen instructions.
If you think you can do this skip the rest of this
and get started. ONE QUICK OVERVIEW: the [up] and
[down] arrow keys change the selection, the current
selection is highlighted and you choose it and
move a level into the program with the [Enter] key.
The [Esc] key brings you out of the programs one
level at a time.

The programs are made from Scroll Lists, Menus,
and Information Screens. Scroll Lists are groups
of items that you key in. There are Scroll Lists
for Checkbooks, Cash Receipts Journals, Bank
Statement Totals, and others. At the bottom of
every Scroll List is a bar with context sensitive help.

Menus are choices that take you where you want
to go. MENUS HINT: Each menu selection has a
number assigned to it. The number is in brackets
it looks like this {7} when the assigned number
is seven. You could move the higlight bar to
selection seven with the up and down arrow keys and
select it with the [Enter] key. Or hit the
[7] key on your keyboard to make selection seven
with one key stroke. This becomes more useful as you
learn the programs and is much easier than using a
pointing device.

Information Screens tell you what is happening,
or what you tried to do that you don't want to
do and why.

The programs take what you have keyed into the
Scroll Lists and prepare reports that are displayed
in Reporting Scroll Lists. Examples of Reporting
Scroll Lists are Average Daily Cash Balances,
Book Payments by Payee, Current Statement Reconciliations,
and many more. Reporting Scroll Lists let you move
from summary lists to more detailed lists. The
detailed lists show every transaction that
makes up your selection from the
preceding summary list.

Scroll list editing is very flexible and mistakes
in scroll lists are always correctible. Use the
keyboard key [F2], function two, to add a new item
to a list; [Enter] to change an existing item;
[F3] to replicate or delete an existing item;
[F4] to add items and more; [F5] to toggle
between date order and code order;
[F6] to prepare a paper printout;
[F7] to move through a list in giant steps
or to do lookups on most columns.

Don't worry about remembering all of the function
keys they are explained by every scroll list that
utilizes them. [F1] brings up a context sensitive
help menu that explains each active function key
and more.

10.) FAQ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

QUESTION 1: How do I handle credit cards?

ANSWER 1:Credit cards are added as a checkbook account, use
the same procedure you use to set up bank accounts.
Credit cards will normally have a negative balance and
bank accounts will normally have a positive balance.

When you write your monthly check to the credit card company
it is a transfer to the credit card account, so be
sure to record it in the credit card account's
Cash Receipts Journal. Record charges on your credit
card in the credit card account's Cash Payments Journal.
