CROSSWORD STATUS -- SOME WORDS NOT PLACED

This screen is displayed if Wordsheets has been unable to place all words in
a crossword. The top portion reports on the progress including the total
tries or attempts. The total words in the list that need to be placed. The
number placed last, which is the number placed in the current crossword. And
finally, the best placed in any attempt.

With more tries, Wordsheets may be able to place more words and perhaps even
all of the words. Your options for continuing are as follows.

"Retry 10 times" causes Wordsheets to make ten more tries.

"Meet or beat best" will keep trying until at least as many words are placed
as are shown in the Best Placed column.

"Endless Retry" will never stop trying until all the words are placed. You
can, however, press ESC to interrupt an endless retry (or any of the other
options above).

No matter which retry option you choose, Wordsheets will return to the
display/create menu if it places all the words. If it doesn't place all the
words it will return to this menu.

"Display current crossword" will let you display the current (last created)
crossword on the screen or to the printer or a file. After displaying, you
will be returned to this menu and can continue retrying or display again.

ESC will return you to the display/create menu without trying any more
patterns. It will also reset the best placed and # of tries. The # placed
last will be the current crossword.

HINTS FOR PLACING AS MANY WORDS AS POSSIBLE
By using these retry options, Wordsheets can often place all of the words in
the crossword. However, each word list is different. For really stubborn
word lists, a good method is to choose "Endless retry." Let Wordsheets run
for 200 or more tries, then press ESC to stop it. At this point, choose
"Meet or beat best," and let Wordsheets stop on it's own. You can then
"Accept" that crossword, and display it on the screen or print it to the
printer.

An alternate method for stubborn lists is to repeatedly use "Meet or beat
best" and work your way up to more and more words placed.

If you have a word list of less than thirty words, but Wordsheets is still
having a difficult time using all of them, try adding an additional word or
changing some of the existing words. These may seem like strange
suggestions, but the changes in the list may provide a possibility for
connections between words that didn't exist before.

In extreme situations you may want to split a problem word list into two
lists, and then create two separate worksheets.
