                            Selecting a Printer

Wordsheets must be setup with the correct driver for your printer. The
drivers are separated into various categories. (laser, ink jet, etc). If
you don't know which mode (emulation) your printer uses start with the
first driver in the most applicable category, test, and then try another
driver if necessary.

Most inkjet and dot matrix printers manufactured after 1990 are in the
"Newer" category. Most laser printers emulate PCL and/or Postscript. A few
emulate Epson or IBM Proprinters. Most inkjet printers emulate Epson or
IBM. A few will emulate PCL or Postscript.

You can print a test page by pressing F5. The wrong driver will print
garbage. The correct driver will print a success message in a box. Turn the
printer off and on between tests to clear out the garbage. Printing with
the wrong driver will not damage your printer.

Many printers can print in more than one mode. Sometimes they switch modes
automatically. Sometimes there is dip switch setting or setup program to
change modes. You may want to try several likely drivers to see which gives
the best results (speed and quality).

Some printers sold after 1996 are "Windows Only" printers. These types of
printers sometimes work if WordSheets is run from Windows (try drivers 1,4
or 5). However, some "Windows Only" printers won't work with WordSheets or
any other DOS programs. If you email info@qualint.com we'll notify you when
we have a Windows solution.

                               Print Quality

Low print quality prints faster than high print quality. Some older laser
printers may report an out of memory error with the highest quality. If you
get an out of memory error, you will need to use low or medium quality.
Some older dot matrix printers may actually look better on medium
resolution than on high resolution.

                                Printer Port

You may choose LPT1 or LPT2. This port will be used for all printouts.

                        Screen Shows 'USED XX TIMES'

Before registering, the only valid choice is Yes. After registering you may
change this to No. When set to No, the bottom of the screen will no longer
display 'Used XX times'
