            S i c y o n 1.7
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

    1. System Requirements
You need to have installed Microsoft Windows 3.xx or later, at least 4MB
RAM and 1.5 MB free space on your hard disk.

    2. Installation
First 3 of the steps listed below can be executed either in DOS or
Windows environment, but the last one - only under Windows.
2.1 Create a directory of your choice (e.g. \Sicyon) on your hard disk.
2.2 Download or copy from diskette "Sicyon17.exe" file into this directory.
    2.3 Run self-decompressed "Sicyon17.exe" - the result will consist a
few files in the same directory and two sub-directories. You can delete
"Sicyon17.exe" afterwards to free disk space.
(alternatively unzip "Sicyon17.zip" in directory of your choice)
2.4 Create icons corresponding of "Sicyon.exe" and "SdBUtil.exe":
        - for Win3.1 users - use File/New menu item of Program Manager
to create icon in program group of your choice.
        - for Win'95/NT users - use Start menu/Setting/Taskbar then open Start
menu program page, press Add button and follow the instructions.

If you have installed Sicyon, first uninstall (see below) previous version saving
aside created by you files (boards and groups) and then install the new one.

    3. Uninstallation
If you wish uninstall Sicyon, just delete Sicyon's directory (with whole its
content), as well as corresponding icon/shortcut. Sicyon does not
change your system configuration files (nor DOS, neither Windows
ones). The program does not create any service files in any directory
different from its proper one.

    4. New features
New features of version 1.7 in comparison with 1.5a:
- DataBoard utility, allows you to create/edit data boards.
- report templates, you can edit the file RepTempl.txt which contains report
templates for all types of reports. That is an easy way to customise/localise
your report appearance/language.
- Retrieve Sicyon state from report. You can load back saved beforehand report
and Sicyon will retrieve its state at the moment report was made. Do not remove
tabs in front of the expression and variables, because Sicyon uses them for
recognition.
- resizable (vertically) Sicyon window when you expand a database board.
- when you define new function, you can copy Sicyon state into the new function
definition with one button click.
- you can save the chart you have made in a bitmap file.
A number of minor improvements have been made and some bugs have been fixed as well.
Working on 32-bit version of Sicyon I realised that some improvements from our
(you and me) Sicyon wish list can be made within 16-bit version. So I "stepped back"
to give a last try to support ALL Windows versions (incl. Win3.1).
The next Sicyon version 2.0 will be 32-bit one with many new features and boards.

    5. Fees
This software product is freeware - you can use it wherever you like, as long as
you like without any charge or fee. If you want full technical support or
just like the product and would like to give your contribution in its
improvement, register yourself (see below). Registered users will be optionally
informed when next revision of Sicyon appears.

    6. Terms and Conditions
Feel free to distribute Sicyon AS IS to anyone interested in. "As is"
means without changing, removing or adding what so ever from the
downloaded package - files 'Sicyon17.exe' or 'Sicyon17.zip'.
The author of this software will not take responsibility for any damage
that may result from the use of this software. The files contained in the
package are distributed without any expressed and implied warranties.
The user assumes the entire risk of using the software.

If you create function or data boards which you think could be interesting
for anybody else, send them to me. Most of them I will publish in Sicyon
web site and selected ones will be included in Sicyon package, but
in any case your name will be in MiniHelp section.

    7. Technical Support
I will try to fix any reported bugs and help you if using Sicyon creates
you problems as soon as I can, but registered users will have priority.
Any consultations will be given only if you have been registered, as well.
For any inquiries e-mail me at <support@sicyon.com>. I'm sorry that some
of you (with no internet access), will be excluded that way, but currently I
haven't got a permanent (enough) mail address or telephone number.

    8. Registration
The registration is free of charge. To be registered you have to fill in survey
form (file "survey.txt" in Sicyon's directory) and e-mail it to me at
<sicyon@hotmail.com>. The same survey form you will find at
http://www.sicyon.com/survey.html and you can submit it online.
After receiving your survey form I will send you back
your registration number. I will recognize you as registered user by your
e-mail address, so if you'll need to send me your reg. number with your inquiry
only if your e-mail address has been changed. Having your reg. number you will
make 'UNREGISTERED' in the title bar of Sicyon disappear, as well.
The survey concerns your detailed opinion about Sicyon, so I suggest you will
fill it in after using the product at least couple of weeks (days counter in
About dialog box will help you).
I will consider the information from this survey as strictly confinetial.

The registered users of Sicyon 1.5 can use their reg. numbers in version 1.7
