CivilTools is Copyright (c) 1997-98 by Renaissance Endeavours and
Allan Herle. It is not public domain or free software.

INSTALL/UNINSTALL
=============

To install, simply run the included installation utility. If you
use Windows 3.1 or 3.11, run the Setup31.EXE program. If you are
using Windows 95 or 98, run Setup95.EXE. The default installation
directory is C:\CVLTOOLS, but you can change this to whatever you
like when prompted to do so. Simply follow the instructions on
screen.

To uninstall the software, run Setup31.exe or Setup95.exe again,
and select the Remove option. Or, just delete all the files
in the directory you installed the software to. The software
does not alter Registry settings or pre-existing *.ini files, or
place new files anywhere but in the installation directory.

WHAT IS CivilTools?
===================

CivilTools is a suite of spreadsheet-like tools intended to assist
a qualified Civil Engineering designer in performing calculations
related to the flow of water in pipes, culverts, ditches, and
channels. The specific situations addressed are:

A. Analysis of capacity, flow velocity, and depth of flow in a
round pipe flowing full or partially full (by gravity).

B. Analysis of capacity, flow velocity, and depth of flow in a
box section pipe flowing full or partially full (by
     gravity).

C. Design of a round or box section culvert, including analysis
of inlet control, outlet control, and tailwater conditions.

D. Analysis of flow in a channel such as a ditch or canal,
including a determination of whether the flow will be
subcritical or supercritical, and an estimate of the size of
sediment (bed load) that will be transported.

E. Design of a storm sewer system using the Rational Method.

In many cases, special algorithms are used to solve complex non-
linear hydraulic equations, when a direct solution is not
possible. The software is arranged in a manner that will be
familiar to spreadsheet users. Program modules, which each
perform an individual task, are arranged like sheets or pages in
a spreadsheet program. Full context-sensitive help is also provided.

USE BY A QUALIFIED DESIGNER ONLY
================================

Please note that this software is intended to ASSIST a qualified
designer, not replace one. This software should only be used
by a qualified designer familiar with hydraulic principles and
with thorough knowledge of the system being designed or modelled.
In all cases, the responsibility for a design rests with the
designer.

PLEASE NOTE THAT USE OF THIS SOFTWARE CONSTITUTES ACCEPTANCE OF

These are the files that are present after installation.
The software may be distributed in a compressed format and may
contain other files to facilitate distribution or installation.

Renaissance Endeavours and Allan Herle hereby grant you, the
end user, a non-exclusive license to evaluate this software
for a period of up to 30 days. You may also distribute the
software as long as it is unmodified and in its entirety.
After the evaluation period you must either register the
software or cease to use it.
Registering the software allows you to use it on a single
personal computer system; however, you may make copies for
backups and archives. Use of the software on more than one
computer requires that a registration fee be paid for the
software on each computer. Please see the file Register.txt
for information on how to register the software.

3. WHY REGISTER?
    =============

It is legally and ethically required to register the software
to use it beyond the 30 day trial period. Besides that, there
are several practical reasons why you should do so:

A. Receive the complete version. The unregistered
(shareware) version of the software does not allow the
user to save or print data files and results.
The registered version does not have this limitation.

B. Free Updates. It is intended that this product will be
updated at regular intervals. Registered users will
receive updates for free by email (or by first-class
mail for a nominal shipping and handling charge, if you
prefer) for a period of two years from the registration
date. As more features and modules are added, the price
will likely go up, but as a registered user you will
continue to get the updated versions for free!

C. Free Technical Support. We will provide unlimited
(within reason) free technical support for our products
via email or regular mail. Unfortunately, at this time
we cannot offer telephone support, but email and regular
mail will be dealt with promptly.

D. A chance to shape the software! Tell us what changes or
additions you would like to see to better serve your
needs, and we will do our best to see that your
     suggestions appear in future versions.
