HTML Image Inventory Generator - v310

16 bit edition - 09/17/97
-------------------------------------

WHAT DOES HTMLIIGN DO?
----------------------

HTMLIIGN is a utility designed to help you to manage your GIF/JPG
image inventory. It produces HTML that contains an inventory of all
your GIF/JPG images in a tabular format of the selected directory.

You can customize the HTML by specifying how many pages to spread
your directory contents across, the number of columns to use, image
presentation size, HTML background and foreground color and whether
or not to include the image file sizes.

Each page contains several sections, the Header, Page Link and Body.

The Header section contains information as to where the files are
located, the number of images in the directory, the number of images
on each page and the date inventoried.

The Page Link section is only present for requests that have more
than 1 page. It contains next/prior page links and for requests of
more then 15 pages, page group links. A page group contains up to
15 page links.

The body contains the images, file name and the size, in bytes, of
the file.

The image presentation size option sets the size that the images in
the HTML are to be shown at ("Normal" or from 20x20 to 200x200
pixels). This allows you to see a large number of large images on
one page. If you decide not to alter the presentation size,
they will appear in the HTML at their default size.

The file selection list shows you all the files in the directory,
which you can optionally rename, delete and view via the command
shortcut or from the drop down "File" menu.

You can view the HTML directly from the HTMLIIGN without first having
to start a web browser (see SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS later on in this
document).

INSTALLATION
------------

(01) If you received HTMLIIGN on diskettes, simply execute SETUP on
the first disk and follow the instructions.

(02) If the HTMLIIGN file you have has a .ZIP extension, place it
in a temporary directory, unzip it, run SETUP and follow the
      instructions.

(03) If the HTMLIIGN file you have has a .EXE extension, it is a
self extracting ZIP file. Place it in a temporary directory,
unzip it, run SETUP and follow the instructions.

In some cases, some of the system modules required for the product to
run may be newer then yours. If SETUP prompts you to update your
system, select "OK" and proceed with the update. You will have to
reboot your system following the update and rerun SETUP to complete
the installation.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-------------------

This version of HTMLIIGN is designed to run on Microsoft Windows
3.x(tm) and requires about 3mb disk space for installation.

The 32 bit version for Windows 95(TM) and NT(TM) contains
additional features utilizing Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

REGISTRATION FILE
-----------------

When you first execute HTMLIIGN, it will create HIIGVxxx.reg, which is
the registration file you would update if you have the registration
code. The "xxx" is the version number, release and maintenance level.

The base release is always of the format v#00, where # is a number
from 1 to 9 and represents a significant change in functionality.
A maintenance level release is denoted by a release and/or
maintenance level value greater then zero and indicates minor
changes in function and/or bug fixes.

The product registration file (registered users only) must(!) be
kept in the same directory as the utility or the utility will
create another file and it will then run in "Shareware" mode.

The registration code may be entered via the "Registration Entry"
item off of the "Register" drop-down menu.

The registration code for the base release is also valid for
the maintenance release.

PROGRAM STATUS
--------------

HTMLIIGN in the "Shareware" version is fully functional with one
limitation, it will only create HTML with the first 20 images
found in the selected directory.

It is hoped that you will find this utility so useful that you will
not mind paying the paltry $10 fee to get the registration code.

DISTRIBUTION
------------

The Shareware version may be distributed freely, and you are
encouraged to do so. When you purchase the registration code,
you and you alone are entitled to the registration code, please
do not share it with your friends.

RELEASE NOTES
-------------

Fixes/modifications for v310

(01) Changed the registration process to automatically
refresh the file selection when the registration is
      successful.

(02) Corrected problem where an incorrect file path is
displayed in the error message that is generated when
the HELP file cannot be found in HTMLIIGN's directory.

(03) Changed the default color of the HTML background to
white. The default gray did not blend well with the
foreground sample text on low end graphics machines.

(04) Corrected a spelling error in the text displayed in
the "Ooops" unregistered message for maintenance
      releases.

(05) Corrected problem where "File not found" text may
appear in the error message generated for a failed
      registration attempt.

Fixes for v302

(01) Corrected problem where the registration file is already
open and it cannot be updated via the "Enter Registration
      Code" menu.

Features added to v300/301

(01) When a $HTMLI01.HTM file is found in the selected directory,
the file's timestamp is displayed at the bottom of the
      "File Selection" frame.

(02) Images can be deleted or renamed via a menu option or a key
      shortcut.

(03) An option has been added to allow you to include the image
file size in the HTML. The file size is displayed under
      each image's name.

(04) The HELP file has been updated to include more functional
      details.

Features added to v210.

(01) Image links are now generated for pages generated where the
image presentation size has been selected to a non-default
value. When you use your favorite web browser, just click
on the image or image name to open up a new browser window
      to see it normal size.

(02) A button was added to reset the Presentation settings (page
count, number of columns and presentation size).

Features added to v200.

(01) The HELP information has been expanded and improved to provide
you with more and better information on HTMLIIGN as well as the
capability to produce a printed HELP document for easy
      reference.

(02) The registration code update process has been made easier with
the addition of the "Registration Entry" menu option. Select
the menu option, enter your code and your registration is
      complete!

(03) You now have the option of setting the background and foreground
colors in the generated HTML. This allows you to get an idea of
how a graphic (such as a bar) will look against a particular
color background. Plus you get to see the color combination
you selected in a preview area before you hit the "Make HTML"
      button.

(04) You can set the HTML image presentation size from 20x20 to
200x200 pixels. In v110 you only had two size options other
      than the default.

(05) In v110, the generated HTML header section at the top of the
page only contained the directory name. V200 also contains
the directory image count, the date and time that the pages
were generated, the number of images on that particular page,
the page number and the total number of pages.

(06) Perhaps the most useful enhancement to the look of the pages
is that there are now HTML links between pages and groups
of pages. These page/group links, are located in a section
just beneath the HTML header section. Now paging is as
simple as clicking on the "Prior Page", "Next Page",
"Prior Group" or "Next Group" page links.

(07) The HTMLIIGN version number has been added to the HTML page
footer next to the link for the ECKware web site.
