Please Note:-
-------------
To open BARC.GN or NWB.GN layouts open the sample data GEN_SAMP.XLS first.

For data saved in ASCII text files. Genesis assumes that the date format order in the saved text files is the same as the date format order in your regional settings.

Therefore if you want to use the sample ASCII text files then please set the date format in your regional settings to the order DAY, MONTH, YEAR since these files were saved in this format and so need this setting on your machine. The date format is not important but the DAY, MONTH, YEAR order is.

When you save your own text files then you will have no such issues as long as the date format order in the saved text files is the same as the date format order in your regional settings.

You won't have any such date issues for your Excel data (including our sample data GEN_SAMP.XLS) or any other data sources.

Description
***********
FIS-Genesis is a comprehensive real-time technical analysis trading system to assist in the prediction and confirmation of price movements for any type of instrument in all kinds of market phases.

The system incorporates the most widely used charting systems since experience confirms that no single system can be relied upon continuously. Certain models are better suited than others depending upon the market phase. As a result, FIS_Genesis can guarantee data integrity since users are sure that their favourite models are all using exactly the same data.

FIS-Genesis can access data from a variety of sources and is not tied to any data supplier. Data sources can be:-
	Real-Time datafeeds, such as Reuters
Any Windows-based application that supports DDE, such as Excel
Any database that supports ODBC, such as SQL Server and MS-Access
	Any ASCII text file
Standard ASCII seven field text file for MetaStock, AIQ, etc
Standard ASCII nine field text file for MetaStock, AIQ, etc

A very powerful feature is the systems ability to update charts from non real-time data sources such as databases or flatfiles. Users can specify update frequencies for such datasources and charts will update at these intervals. This allows users the ability to have real-time charts on their desks but without the need to have a real-time feed connected. Again, this will help reduce the costs and maybe appropriate for middle and back office users.

FIS-Genesis also provides automatic data filtering to remove possible erroneous prices. However these price movements may in fact have happened in which case the system also allows data to be manually edited using a spreadsheet-like data viewer. The data on the spreadsheet corresponding to a chart scrolls as the user moves the mouse over the chart allowing erroneous prices to be detected and edited instantly. Navigation and data editing is similar as is in Microsoft Excel.

Other Features
--------------
No restrictions to number of instruments or data sources that can be analysed simultaneously

Users can use applications such as Excel to massage data, produce their own models and feed the results back into FIS-Genesis

No data restrictions. The system can be used to chart whatever user wishes

Tips on when and how to best take advantage of each charting tool

Print Problems
--------------
For certain machine configurations under Windows 95/98 users may experience printing problems. If this is the case, then users can save the charts as bitmaps and load them in another application, such as MS Word or MS Paint, before printing out. This will be fixed in future versions.

No such problems exist for users with Windows NT or 2000.
