Help Desk Database for Windows

Version 3.0

Introduction:

The Help Desk Database from Aylott Computing is designed to assist small
to medium sized organisations with the tracking of IT hardware, problems
and requests.

Two versions are available - for MS Access 97 and MS Access 2000.

For MS Access 97, you must have Service Pack 2 (SR2) or greater installed.

Installation:

The simplest method (eg for use on a single PC) is to copy ALL files to
any folder on your PC (eg C:\HELPDESK).

For other installation options (eg networks) and for multi-user operation,
please refer to the Installation section of the HELPDESK.HLP file.

WARNING:

There are some 'known problems' (ie bugs!) in Windows 9x and MS Office 97.
When you open the HelpDesk database, you may receive a message similar to:

Invalid Page Fault in VBA232.DLL at 015f:651503f7

This indicates that you may need an update to VBA232.DLL. This is available
from ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Softlib/MSLFILES/VBA232A.EXE

You must also have Service Release Pack 2 (SR2) or greater installed.

To test for SR2, start any Office 97 application (eg Access 97) and select:
Help / About. If it does not say SR-2 in the about box then you need the
Service Release packs (both SR1 and SR2) available from Microsoft at
http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/

Operation:

To start the Help Desk Database, double click on the HELPDESK.MDE (Access 97)
or HDESK2K.MDE (Access 2000) file. This will start MS Access and run the
database automatically.

If you receive an error message when the program starts (Invalid Page Fault)
please refer to the WARNING above.

You may be asked to locate the DATA file (HDESKDAT.MDB) if it is not in the
same folder as HELPDESK.MDE.

If the program is unregistered, a screen is then displayed allowing you to
register the application or evaluate it.

Registration:

To receive the registration code to run the full version of the Help Desk
Database, please contact Aylott Computing. Registration for a single PC
costs US$145 and many other options are available.
