			PPCkiosk Readme

PPCkiosk is very easy to use. PPCkiosk requires your computer/laptop to be configured for dual monitors.
In a desktop system, this means that you have either two video boards or a multiport board. We highly recommend the multiport boards from Appian - http://www.appian.com . If you are using a laptop, then your laptop must have a chipset that supports dual monitors. This is not the same as having "monitor out" which you
can see when you press the F5 key. If your laptop doesn't have the dual monitor chipset, then you need the Appian Traveler PCMCIA card . This card will allow you to use dual monitors.

PPC-97 will work with Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, and Windows Xp. We recommend Windows Xp.

			How to setup PPCkiosk

1. Start PPCkiosk. Next enter the Timer value in seconds. This is the value that you want the slides to change.
Do not use slide timings in PowerPoint. In PowerPoint, under the slide show menu, select "set up show". Choose "presented by speaker" and "Loop continuously until Esc". Select manual slide timings. Save your show
and quit PowerPoint. You do not need to do this procedure every time; just the first time.

2. If your are using 1024 x 768 resolution and not using Windows 2000,skip to #3. If you are using something other than 1024 X 768 or using Windows 2000 then you must set up your show. With your mouse, click the "Load Display Numbers". This is where a little experimentation is need. If you are using 800 x 600, try using 601 for your left number and 600 for your Diagonal Point. If this doesn't look right adjust the numbers and keep trying till you get it just right. Then click on the "Save Magic Numbers" button. Since you just saved the magic numbers, you must click the "Load Saved Magic Numbers" and then click "OK". Normally, you would just have to click the "Load Saved Magic Numbers" and then click "OK".

3. Now that you have your show set up. you need to load the show. Click the load show button with your mouse and find your PowerPoint file (*.PPT). You do not need to have *.PPS files. PPCkiosk loads PowerPoint automatically and then loads your show.

4. You can now minimize the PPCkiosk gui. PPCkiosk allows you to use the local monitor for running other software while your slideshow plays on the kiosk monitor(remote or second monitor). On the PPCkiosk the "Slide Num" window shows the slide number that you are displaying. To go forward you click "Next Slide", backwards click "Previous Slide". If you want to jump around in the slide show, enter the slide number in the box under the previous slide button and click the "Goto Slide Number" button.

5. You notice at no time did we have to click the mouse in the slide show screen. This a advantage of using PPCkiosk.Your presentation looks professional and your audience never sees the mouse pointer! During the show you can edit your slides or keep notes with meeting minder.

6. Thanks for using PPCkiosk!
