1. GENERAL INFORMATION
----------------------
AnyCard! is a credit card authorization program for small
businesses. It is particularly useful for businesses that
only process a few cards a day. By utilizing touch-tone
(or voice) processing available through most card processing
centers, it takes the place of card readers or
expensive third party software systems and keeps overall costs
low.

The program calls the authorization center and inputs all the
appropriate numbers, including Address Verification (AVS)
information. The user, then, types-in (or writes down) the
authorization code provided. Although, AnyCard can be used as
a stand-alone program, it has been designed to work hand-in-
hand with other software and has a full range of import and
export features. An extensive help system is integrated into
the program, and it comes with a quick and easily executed test
to make sure it will work on the host system.

AnyCard! is a shareware program. That means you're welcome to
try out the program at no cost and make sure it will work for
you. You're also welcome to give the program to others or to
make it available on your web site. (For more information on
shareware, see "How to Register the Program," below).

For more program tidbits, special announcements, and upgrade
information, you are cordially invited to visit the author's
web site at http://www.isu.edu/~wattron/ (follow the software
link). Additional contact information is included below.

2. NOTE TO WINDOWS 3.1 AND WINDOWS 95/98/ME/2000/XP USERS
----------------------------------------------
AnyCard comes with one of two installers. If you are a Windows
3.1 user, you'll want to make sure that you have downloaded the
version that comes with a Windows 3.1 installer.

The Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP version includes an additional
uninstall feature to expedite program removal.

More information and links to all downloadable versions of the
program are provided at author's web site at
http://www.isu.edu/~wattron/.

3. INSTALLING THE PROGRAM
-------------------------
Depending on the download site, AnyCard! comes bundled as
either a zip file or as a self-extracting zip file. If you
receive a zip file (with a .zip extension), first unzip it. A
number of different zip utilities are available for this
purpose. Once the file is unzipped, RUN SetUp.exe. This will
start the setup program and will install the program files.

If you received the self-extracting zip file (with a .exe
extension), RUN the file as it is. The program files will be
unzipped, and the setup program will start automatically.

We suggest that you use the default program directory name
when you install the program. Some software and operating
system combinations will not allow access to AnyCard's
program directory if it has a long name or contains spaces.
For the best results, use the default program directory.

4. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
----------------------
HARDWARE:
a) 486-66 and Pentium or Equivalent Computers
b) A minimum of 16MB RAM (More is recommended)
c) A hard disk with 4MB of available disk space
d) VGA/SVGA monitor and graphics adapter
e) Modem
f) Mouse

OPERATING SYSTEM:
Windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP
(A Special Windows 3.1 version is also available)

5. REMOVING THE PROGRAM
-----------------------
The installer for Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP creates an uninstall
program which will remove all files associated with AnyCard!
The uninstall program is listed with the AnyCard program group
in the Start Menu. You can also uninstall the program by using
"Add/Remove Programs" found in the Windows Control Panel. If
you installed the program for Windows 3.1 and no longer wish to
use it, you'll need to delete the files. All program and data
files are kept in one directory which makes removing the
program easy. Using the File Manager, go to the AnyCard
directory. Delete all the files and then delete the directory.

6. ON-LINE HELP
---------------
A complete on-line help system has been built into the program.
It is accessed by selecting HELP from the Menu. The help
system has been set up using standard Windows commands and
procedures. Information on topics of general interest may be
reached from the Contents page (accessed by selecting HELP and
CONTENTS from the Menu Bar). Topics of a more specific nature
may be located using the Windows Help Search feature.

Special information has also been developed to help you get
started. For a quick introduction to the program, select HELP
and GETTING STARTED from the Menu.

Information on which version of the program you are using is
found in the "About" dialog box. It is accessed by selecting
HELP and ABOUT from the Menu.

Registered users who have specific questions or problems with
the program are welcome to contact the program's author, Ron
Watters by phone: 208-232-6857 or via email wattron@isu.edu.

requesting donations, for any such copies, however made; and
from distributing the software and/or documentation with other
products (commercial or otherwise) without prior written
permission.

9. CHANGES IN VERSION 3.0
-----------------------------
Version 3.0 includes the following enhancements and changes
over previous versions:

+Bank number functionality has been fully integrated into the
program. Kept in memory with other set-up variables, the bank
number is available, if needed, during card processing.

+The program now has the ability to round transaction amounts
to nearest whole dollar should the user's processing center
require it. Rounding can be turned off for selected cards, if
desired.

+Multi-phone number functionality has added to the program which
allows the user to access more than one processing center for card
authorizations. Bank number and rounding options are also
available for each of the processing center choices.

+A credit card accuracy test has been added. The credit card
number is check against a mathematical formula to determine
whether it is a valid and accurate number. This can be done
prior to calling the processing center--and helps identify
inaccurate or fraudulent card numbers.

+Some processing centers were not properly picking up the amount
of the transaction in previous versions of AnyCard and the
programming code has altered to correct this problem.

+The name, address, phone and invoice reference fields were
increased in size to allow for longer entries.

+An email field has been added to the main screen. By clicking
a button, the user's email program will be activate with the
address inserted and the message ready to send.

+A phone dialer module has been incorporated into AnyCard.
Any phone number may be dialed from within the program. A dial
button was also placed next to the phone number field and, when
activated, will call the number.

+The Main Screen now includes an Other Information field. This
is available for miscellaneous information that the user wishes
to include with the credit card record. This information will
appear on printed reports and is included in export files.

+An additional option has been added to the export portion of the
program, providing for the creation of a header file. The
header file contains a list of the names of each of the fields
exported, making it easier to use exported data in spreadsheet
and database programs.

+The import and export dialog boxes have been redesigned and made
more user friendly. The program will also remember the import
and export directory for future sessions.
