			DESCRITION OF SOFTWARE AND PURPOSE



	 Media Cataloger is a database program indexer for all your
needs in the home or office. You have seen the others, but none like this.
You can create your own files or use the sample files to guide you,
(There are 15 Sample files). Imagine! creating files for new media,
printouts which you design and create, or creating an index for your friends
and family to thumb through. We even provide a colorful front and rear cover
to use for your index binder. Catalog everything from 8-track tapes, CD's,
Record Albums, Coin and Stamp collections to Photo Albums, and your Insurance
or inventories., Yes even Video Tapes and much more. Incorporate your home
entertainment center into your computer.

	Media Cataloger is also a library catalog for home video libraries.
It has been produced for those who are interested in local video clubs and
video tape hobbyists.

	Finally a software program produced specifically for the individual
consumer. Now you are able to incorporate your VCR, TV and STEREO and more
into your computer.

	Imagine with just a little time you can catalog and organize your
Video tapes, Laser discs, Albums, Cassettes, Compact discs and Books. This
will make it easy to locate a movie you wish to view and also make recording
easier. NO MORE SEARCHING THROUGH SHELVES FOR THAT ONE MOVIE YOU WANT TO VIEW.

	You will be able to print out all your files and produce a catalog
for your library and update it as you see fit. Your catalog can be placed
on your shelf with your tapes and used not only by you but, by your friends
who visit.

	The catalog allows parents, children, and guests the ability to
choose a movie without searching through the tapes or discs themselves.

		INSTALLATION & INSTALLABLE DISK INSTRUCTIONS




	The file csisharef.exe is a self extracting and automatic
	installer, follow these directions to install.

			USE install option A OR B below

A.) Use Windows Explorer locate and DOUBLE CLICK THE FILE (csisharef.exe)
    then continue at STEP B-5 below.

B.)1. Click on START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL and ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.
      or use Windows Explorer and DOUBLE CLICK THE FILE
   2. Click INSTALL, NEXT and BROWSE for the file location. 
   3. Select the file (csisharef.exe) and click OPEN.
   4. Click FINISH
   5. The DRAG AND ZIP SELF EXTACTOR will appear.
   6. type the directory or folder location where the files are to
      to be extracted to or click BROWSE to select a location.
      The software will extract and automaticly self install.
   7. Follow the on screen directions.

   
   NOTE: To create Installable Disks. After the installation has completed
you will need six (6) 3.5" disks or one (1) Writable CD. Copy from your
extracted file location the following files to your disks as shown or copy
all files to your CD.

The terms and conditions of this Agreement will apply to the
SOFTWARE supplied herewith and derivatives obtained therefrom,
including any copy. The term SOFTWARE includes programs and related
documentation supplied herewith.

BY COPYING, USING OR DISTRIBUTING THIS SHAREWARE PROGRAM, YOU
INDICATE YOUR AGREEMENT TO THE TERMS OF THIS LICENSE.

     A. Everyone can -- and is encouraged! -- to copy, upload
        and pass around this Program without charging for it.

     B. If you want to distribute it in a retail location (such
        as on a rack), or as part of a hardware or software
        bundle, or on CD-ROM you must get PRIOR signed written
        permission from Catalog Systems. Catalog Systems Inc.
        reserves the right to withhold permission.

1.   TITLE AND LICENSE GRANT

     The SOFTWARE is copyrighted and/or contains proprietary 
     information protected by law. All SOFTWARE, and all
     copies thereof, are and will remain the sole property of
     Catalog Systems. Catalog Systems hereby grants you a
     personal, non-transferable and non-exclusive right to
     use, in the United States, all SOFTWARE, in whatever form
     recorded, which is furnished to you under or in
     contemplation of this Agreement. This grant is limited to
     use on a single processor at a time.     Any other use of
     this SOFTWARE or removal of the SOFTWARE from a country
     in which use is licensed shall automatically terminate
     this license.

     You  agree to obtain prior Catalog Systems approval for
     multi-processor usage.

     You agree to use your best efforts to see that any user
     of the SOFTWARE licensed hereunder complies with the
     terms and conditions of this License Agreement and
     refrains from taking any steps, such as reverse assembly
     or reverse compilation, to derive a source code
     equivalent of the SOFTWARE.

2.   SOFTWARE USE

     A.   You are permitted to make a single archive
          copy, provided the SOFTWARE shall not be
          otherwise reproduced, copied, or, except for
          the documentation, disclosed to others in
          whole or in part. Any such copy shall contain
          the same copyright notice and proprietary
          marking, including diskette markings,
          appearing on the original SOFTWARE.


     B.   The SOFTWARE,

          1.   Together with any archive copy
               thereof, shall be either returned to
               Catalog Systems or destroyed when no
               longer used in accordance with this
               license Agreement, or when the right
               to use the software is terminated;
               and

          2.   Shall not be removed from the United
               States in which use is licensed when
               licensed for business use.Unless
               purchased from export distributor
               and / or retailer outside the
               continental United States. This is
               exempt to any and all individual
               users for HOME applications only.


3.   LIMITED WARRANTY

     A.   Catalog Systems warrants that the SOFTWARE
          will be in good working order and will
          replace, without charge, any SOFTWARE which is
          not in good working order if returned to the
          location where you obtained it within (90)
          days of delivery to you. At its option,
          Catalog Systems may refund the purchase price
          of the SOFTWARE.

     B.   Catalog Systems does not warrant that the
          functions of the SOFTWARE will meet your
          requirements or that SOFTWARE operation will
          be error-free or uninterrupted.

     C.   Catalog Systems has used reasonable efforts to
          minimize defects or errors in the SOFTWARE.
          HOWEVER, YOU ASSUME THE RISK OF ANY AND ALL
          DAMAGE OR LOSS FROM USE, OR INABILITY TO USE
          THE SOFTWARE.

     D.   Unless a separate agreement for software
          maintenance is entered into between you and
          Catalog Systems, Catalog  Systems bears no
          responsibility for supplying assistance for
          fixing or for communicating known errors to
          you pertaining to the SOFTWARE supplied
          hereunder.

     E.   YOU UNDERSTAND THAT, EXCEPT FOR THE (90) DAY
          LIMITED WARRANTY RECITED ABOVE, CATALOG
          SYSTEMS, ITS AFFILIATES,  CONTRACTORS,
          SUPPLIERS AND AGENTS MAKE NO WARRANTIES 
          EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AND SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM
          ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR
          A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

          Some states or other jurisdictions do not
          allow the exclusion of implied warranties or
          limitations on how long an implied warranty
          lasts, so the above limitations may not apply
          to you. This warranty gives you specific legal
          rights and you may also have other rights
          which vary from one state or jurisdiction to
          another.



4.   EXCLUSIVE REMEDIES AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITIES

     A.   YOU AGREE THAT YOUR SOLE REMEDY AGAINST
          CATALOG SYSTEMS, ITS AFFILIATES, CONTRACTORS,
          SUPPLIERS, AND AGENTS FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE
          CAUSED BY ANY DEFECT OR FAILURE IN THE 
          SOFTWARE REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF ACTION,
          WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, INCLUDING
          NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY OR OTHERWISE,
          SHALL BE THE REPLACEMENT OF CATALOG SYSTEMS
          FURNISHED SOFTWARE, PROVIDED SUCH SOFTWARE IS
          RETURNED TO CATALOG SYSTEMS WITH A COPY OF
          YOUR SALES RECEIPT. THIS SHALL BE EXCLUSIVE OF
          ALL OTHER REMEDIES AGAINST  CATALOG SYSTEMS,
          ITS AFFILIATES, CONTRACTORS, SUPPLIERS OR
          AGENTS.


     B.   Regardless of any other provisions of this
          Agreement, neither Catalog Systems nor its
          affiliates, contractors,  suppliers or agents
          shall be liable for any indirect,  incidental
          or consequential damages (including lost
          profits) sustained or incurred in connection
          with the use, operation, or inability to use
          the SOFTWARE or for damages due to causes
          beyond the reasonable control of Catalog
          Systems, its affiliates, contractors,
          suppliers and agents attributable to any
          service, products or  action of any other
          person.

     C.   For SOFTWARE Licensed in the United States and
          Puerto Rico, this agreement shall be construed
          in accordance with and governed by the laws of
          the State of Oklahoma.

IT, AND THAT BY OPENING ANY SEAL ON THE PACKAGE CONTAINING THE

YOU FURTHER AGREE THAT, EXCEPT FOR SEPARATE WRITTEN AGREEMENTS
BETWEEN CATALOG SYSTEMS AND YOU, THIS AGREEMENT IS THE COMPLETE AND
EXCLUSIVE STATEMENT OF THE RIGHTS AND LIABILITIES OF THE PARTIES.
THIS AGREEMENT SUPERSEDES ALL PRIOR ORAL AGREEMENTS,PROPOSALS OR
UNDERSTANDINGS, AND ANY OTHER COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN US RELATING TO
THE SUBJECT MATTER OF THIS AGREEMENT.

			   PROGRAM HELP FILES 



To create a New Catalog
As you use the Media Cataloger, you will find that in the future, new products for
recording video and audio will be produced and you will want to collect them
as you have other forms of media in the past ie; Records, cassettes, VHS tapes and
so on. Some will have business inventories which may be updated, changed or added
to, others will have collectibles which can be recorded and still others will wish
to keep a record of their business or household items for insurance purposes. Whatever,
the need "Media Cataloger" will help keep your records and files in order and up
to date.

(Important Note) the number of files and records are limited only to your hard drive
		 space, but be aware that record size within each file is limited to
		 a total of 1024 characters. Except in this Sharware version.
		 You will only be allowed to create three records per catalog
		 and three new catalogs.

Click File then New Catalog.

A.	In the Create New Catalog window
	Enter a name for your file, this may be no longer than 8 characters.
	The file will have an extension name of .db. The box in the window
	displays all current file names in use and names may not be 
	duplicated. Then click Next.

B.	In the New Fields window
	To Enter field names for your new catalog file.
	Type the field name into the name box and press Enter
	click the Add Button.
	To Delete a field name click on the field name in the box on the right
	then click the Delete Button.
	Use the Red up & Down arrows to arrange the position of the fields by
	clicking on a field name in the box then click on the arrows to move
	the field. (The field names will appear in the order you set in this window).
	When you have finished click Next.

C.	In the Field Type and Length window
	There are two types of fields, DATA fields and PICTURE fields.
	DATA fields contain information about your items. Each field must have a
	character size of 0 to 255 characters. The total length is 1024 characters per
	record within each file.
	PICTURE fields are used only when you want to add a picture or photo.
	All files must be in .BMP (Bitmap) format. Picture fields will automatically
	be given an extension name of .DIB.
	To change the field type, click in the Type column of which you wish
	to change and click on your selection.
	To change the length of a field, click in the Length column and select the size.
	When you have finished click NEXT.

D.	In the Key Field Form window
	Key fields allow you to view your records sorted in different ways.
	Key fields must be contiguous beginning with the first field.
	To add a key field click on the Field name  in the Field box. The field you
	click on and all previous fields will be added to the KEY FIELD box.
	When you have completed your selections click FINISH 
	You have know created a new file and are ready to set up your
	LOOKUP fields.

E.	To create Lookup Fields
	Lookup fields allows you to predefine the data contained in a field and help to
	eliminate the use of repeated key strokes while building your file records. By
	mearly a few clicks of the mouse you can enter, change and delete the information
	within a field.
	for example: If you have several files for music called RECORDS, CASSETTES,
	CD's or VIDEOS, these files may all use the same field name called SOUND.
	The sound field would use info such as the (type of sound) ie; STEREO, MONO,
	OPTICAL, DIGITAL etc.. From within the catalog you would double click on
	the sound field and your selection can be made or edited.

Click on LOOKUP tab

A	Enter Field Name ( Must match the field name of your catalog file you selected)
	Enter Data ( Data should reflect the info needed)
	The LOOKUP may be edited as needed. The lower button bar in the window
	will allow you to move forward to the next record, back to prior record, go to
	the first record, go to the last record, insert a record, delete a record, edit a
	record, post edit, cancel edit, refresh or save the record and show all you records.

To Open a Catalog

A	Click on File then click Open Catalog

B.	In the Open catalog window
	Click on your newly created catalog or click on an existing file,
	Then click OK.

C.	In the Catalog window
	Enter the information for your new record, edit information of an existing
	record. Using the button bar in this window you may move forward to the
	next record, move back to the prior record, go to the first record, go to the
	last record, insert a record, delete a record, edit a record, post edit, cancel
	edit and refresh or save a record.

D.	In fields which correspond to the fields in the LOOKUP - double click and
	the Select your Categories window will appear. The items in the box on the
	left are in the lookup field. Click on the desired item then click the 
	RIGHT ARROW, the item will appear in the field box, then click DONE and
	the item will be placed in your record field. You may delete selections by
	clicking an item in the field box then click  the LEFT ARROW . Click
	the CANCEL button and no changes will be made. After selecting your item. 		Continue until the record is complete.

E.	For DIB field double click the field and the  PICK PICTURE window will
	appear, select  the BMP file you need and click OK.
	To check BMP file click DIB field once and the picture will appear.
	To edit picture Double click on the picture and it will come up in
	Windows Paint- edit as you see fit.
	To save edited picture. In paint click File then click save then EXIT paint.
	The picture is now saved into Media Cataloger.

   Note: For BMP (bitmap files or pictures)to operate your must first copy the files
	 into the program directory, an example follows:
	1. Have your pictures, drawings and artwork Scanned and placed on
	   diskette as a .BMP file.
	2. Place your diskette into your A: drive and copy the files to your		 		    Media Cataloger directory following this example using the dos
	   commands: A:\COPY *.BMP C:\CSI
	
	 You can obtain scanning services at most storefront copy centers or go to our

F.	To Delete a record within a file
	While in the Catalog window click the record you wish to delete, then click
	DELETE RECORD.

	(Caution: Be sure you wish to delete your record before you click OK, this
           	  action is not recoverable.)

	Important: There are sample files included with the program, each file
   	           contains a sample record so that you may try the file and use
		   it as is. Be sure to add a record to the file before deleting
		   the sample record or this may damage the file. If you decide
		   not to use the file at all, delete it, this will provide more disk
		   space.



	Insurance file: Catalog Systems Inc. provides file storage for insurance
  		        files for a small fee of $12.00 yearly. To store your files,
			copy or compress all files with the same file name if:
			insurance.db and the .BMP files which correspond to
			records in the file. Save the files to 3.5" diskette, copy
			the disks for your backup then send a copy of the disks
			to Catalog Systems Inc. In the event of any unforeseen
			accident or mishap, We will forward the files and a 
			copy of the program to you or your insurance agent.

G.	To Sort Records
	You may choose the way your records are sorted. Click on the Sort By box
	and a drop down menu will appear - this selection was created earlier by the
	entries made in the KEY FIELD FORM window as the file was created.
	Click on the sort item and the records will resort themselves.


To Delete a Catalog

	Click File then click Delete catalog

	The Delete catalog window will appear, click on the file you wish to delete then
	click OK. You will receive a message asking you to confirm the delete action.
	You may click OK to complete the delete action or click Cancel and your file will
	remain.

	(Caution: Be sure you wish to delete your file before you click OK, this action 
		     is not recoverable.)
	

To Restructure Catalog

	Click File then click Restructure catalog

	The restructure window will appear. This function is used to correct spelling or
	change the information associated with a catalog file.

	Note: You can not add or delete fields or change index fields.

	A	Select catalog file to restructure then click Next or click Cancel your file will
		remain unchanged. 
		Note: Be sure the file is not in use.

	B.	The Rebuild catalog window will appear, then click Finish and all the
		modifications will be made, then click Done or click Back to make
		changes or cancel out of the operation.

To Reindex Catalog

	Click File then click ReIndex catalog

	The Re-Index Catalog window will appear. Click on the catalog name that you
	need to re-index, then click on the Re-Index button. After the reindexing is done
	you may reindex another catalog or click the Done button when finished.

	Note: After reindexing a file and you wish to choose another to reindex, if the 
	          file field are not alike or the same for each file you will receive a message
	          stating "Field not found". To reindex a different file with other field names
	          you must EXIT the program and restart the program then reindex the file.

To Create New Report

	Click Reports then click Create New Report

	The Create New Report window will appear. This operation offers two types of
	written reports to be produced as a printout. 1st is the Tabular Catalog Report
	which prints out your entire record database within a file. 2nd is the Single Record
	Report which prints out a single record within a file including the .BMP file
	You can print out your catalog files and create an index for your library.

	1. To create a Tabular Report

	A.	Click on a catalog file in the Pick a Catalog box, then click Tabular in
		Report Type box. Type in a title for report in the Report Title box, then
		type a file name in the Report Name box. Click Next to go to next
		window or click Cancel.

	B.	The Pick Fields window will appear. Click on fields of your catalog then
		click the right arrow and your selection will be placed in the Report Fields
		box or Double click for the same action. T remove a field click on your
		selection in the Report Field box, then click the left arrow . After making
		all your selections click on the Next button to continue or click the Back
		button and return to the previous screen.

	C.	The Position & Size Fields window will appear. This window allows you to
		position or size fields and associated information on your screen. In essence
		it allows you the ability to design the finished printout. Simply double click
		on a field name then move it to its new position and place the mouse
		pointer on the box frame and resize the field area. Then repeat the process
		for the associated field information. Use the button bar to scroll the records.
		Click the Print button to print the report, click Done button to save and exit
		or click Back button for previous screen.

	2. To create a Single Report

	A.	Click on a catalog file in the Pick a Catalog box, then Click Single in
		Report Type box. Type in a title for the report in the Report Title box,
		then type a file name in the Report Name box. Click Next to go to next
		window or click Cancel.

	B.	The Pick Fields window will appear. Click on field of your catalog then
		click the right arrow and your selection will be placed in the Report Fields
		box or double click for the same action. You can also click on the Add All
		button to select all the fields. To remove a field click on your selection
		in the Report Fields box, then click the left arrow or double click for the
		same action. You can also click Del All button to delete all fields. After
		making all your selections, click on the Next button to continue or click
		the Back button and return to the previous screen.

	C.	The Position Form window will appear. This window allows you to position
		or size fields and associated information on your screen. In essence it allows
		you the ability to design the finished printout. The single record report also
		prints out your .BMP file with all the information. To go back to the previous
		screen click the Red Back Arrow. Use the buttons in the window to unselect
		a selected item, view prior or the next record, view the first or last record,
		turn on or off the positioning grid, print the report, show or hide the page
		title, show or hide the picture and Done button to save and exit. Simply
		double click on a field name then move it to its new position and place the
		mouse pointer on the box frame and resize the field area. then repeat the
		process for the associated field information.

To Edit Existing Report

	Click on Reports then click Edit Existing Report

	The Select Report to Edit window will appear, click on the report file name you
	wish to edit. Then click Next , the appopriate edit window will appear and you may
	edit your reports for printing, or click Cancel .


	Note:   Files ending in ".crt" are reports created in Tabular format and files ending
		in ".crs" are Single record reports.

To Delete Existing Report

	Click on Reports then click Delete Existing Report

	The Delete Existing Report window will appear, click on the report file you wish
	to delete then click the Delete button or click Cancel to abort the request.

	(Caution:  Be sure you wish to delete your file before you click Delete, this action
		      is not recoverable.)

To View Help File

	Click on Help then click on Help

To View License

	Click on Help then click on License

	The license agreement window will appear, You may read the document at any time
	If you agree, feel free to use the software. If you disagree, uninstall the software.

To Print License

	Anywhere in the document right click your mouse. Click on Select All, then click
	Copy. Open the Wordpad in  windows 95/98, or any word processing program,
	them click on Edit, then click Paste, the document will appear. Click File then
	click Print.

To View About

	Click Help then click About

	The About CSI window will appear

To View and Print Order Form

	Click Help then click Order Form

	The Order Form window will appear, type in the appropriate information then
	click Print. You may also print the form and fill it in by hand. When finished
	click Done to Exit.

	Note: If no printer is available, write all the information on a sheet of paper and
	      mail it with your payment.

	
To View and Print Binder Cover

	We have provided a full color front and rear binder cover for you which you can
	print out and insert into  For Example: (a three ring loose leaf binder with clear
	sleeves on the cover) your library index catalog.

	Click Binder Cover then the Print Binder Cover will appear, click Front Cover to
	view and click Print for a full color printout. Click Rear Cover to view and click
	Print for a full color printout.

	Click Done to Exit.

To Exit Program

	Click File then click Exit.

				TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS
			        QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Question.
In 800 x 600, 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 1024 pixels resolution the program seems
to not appear correctly in some windows.

Answer.
You may have problems viewing some windows in different resolutions.
This program is best viewed at 640 x 480 pixel resolution.


Question.
When creating a NEW CATALOG you can use a space in the catalog name,
but in creating a field name you are not allowed to enter a space
between words.

Answer.
You can't use spaces in CATALOG NAME or FIELD NAMES on this version
(backward compatability).


Question.
Most windows will not open full size or resize ie:

Answer.
Resizing these windows serve no purpose, the grids and fonts remain the
same size.


Question.
In the CREATE NEW REPORT window, can't use a space in REPORT TITLE
or REPORT FILE NAME.

Answer.

on this version (backward compatability).

What purpose does the LOOKUP tab window serve.

Answer.
As you create your catalog files or make new entries in to your catalog
records, you will be able to create and use drop down selection menus for
entering information this will eliminate the need to re-enter information
manually. ie: Open one of the existing sample files and double click the
field area for SOUND or REVIEW, you will activate the SELECT YOUR CATAGORIES
window and then click on your selection or edit the selections in the window
or in the LOOKUP tab window.

The ORDER FORM appears misaligned for entering text and to print the form
in resolutions other than 640 x 480.

Answer.
Set resolution to 640 x 480 to view and print.


Question.
There is no select printer option for the Order Form. How do I select the
printer.

Answer.
The Print option is set to your Windows default printer. Enter MY COMPUTER,
PRINTERS and select the default printer.

There is no select printer option for the BINDER COVER. How do I select the
printer.
