This file contains important information that either that may 
be needed during the setup or initial logon process. This 
information is also available in the online help.

Online help may be accessed by pressing the F1 key on any 
window.

Installing the Program
==============================================================

1. Extract the files in the .zip file to a temporary directory 
   on your hard drive using a utility such as WinZip (you can 
   obtain WinZip from http://www.winzip.com.
   
2. One of the files extracted will be the setup.exe file.
   Locate this file and run it. You can do this by either 
   using Windows Explorer to locate and then double-click the 
   setup.exe file, or you can go through the Windows 
   Start Menu|Control Panel|Add/Remove programs, and browse 
   to the directory containing the setup.exe file.
   
3. The installation program will automatically install 
   files to the directory containing your CURRENT installation
   of MemberTies or MemberTies Professional.

All program files are installed in the program directory. 
No other files are installed anywhere on your system.

Installation Sequence for Users with Customized Versions
==============================================================
If you have a customized version of the software, you should 
install in the following order:

1. Install this new version following the instructions above.

2. Reinstall your current customization file (unless you 
   received a new file for this release, in which case you 
   should use the newest file).
   
Essentially, your customization should be installed last. When
you logon the next time, you should see the word, "Custom" in 
the upper left corner of the Login window.

Program Status
==============================================================
This program is distributed as Shareware. You may freely 
distribute it as long as all files contained in the .zip file 
are included in their original format. 

If you have registered the program and received a license, 
the license NOT be distributed, per the terms of your 
registration agreement.

Customization
==============================================================
The author is willing to provide a customized version of the 
software to suit the particular needs of your organization.
Prices for this will vary. Contact the author for details.

Logging in for the First Time
==============================================================
The first time start a new database, a default username and 
password are created for you to use on the Login window. These 
are temporary and you will create a real name and password 
after you log in.

The defaults are:

  UserName: default
  Password: password

These are only valid on new databases. Once a real account 
has been created, the above login will no longer work.

Administrator Account
==============================================================
The database is also installed with a default Administrator
account. This account cannot ever become disabled or locked, 
so it is important that you log in to this account at some 
point and change the administrator password from the default.

The defaults for this account are:

  UserName: administrator
  Password: password
  
The administrator account has the ability to unlock accounts 
that have been disabled due to bad password attempts, and 
more. Please see "administrator" in the online help for 
more information.
