Thank you for downloading MikeysUnix/Dos/RTF Editor/ FTP/Telnet Program.

Current Version: 1.0.0
Date finished: 7/6/98
Operating system required: Windows 95.
Additional files needed to run this software: NONE.
How to Install:
Place UxTxtFtp.exe in a subdirectory. Make shortcuts to it. Run the Shortcut. Prior
to running the internet utilities (FTP, Telnet) it may be a good idea to connect to your
Internet Provider. (Some Ftp and Telnet time out)

This program is an integrated Rich Text format / Dos text / Unix text file
editor / converter with built in FTP and Telnet clients.

If you find any bugs (probably will with version 1.0 ... ) Please E-mail the problem to
me.

Notes about this program:

The tab button in the editor inserts spaces not tabs. (This is by design. If I get
enough negative
feedback, I will restore the tabs with the registered version)

When importing unix type text, all non visible characters are removed.

Importing Unix text takes longer since I had to write my own routine to ensure
proper data integrity.

The proxy for the FTP client has only been verified to work on WINGATE
software.

The proper font must be set in the telnet client for the type of remote computer
you choose. I have found that fixed spaced fonts like terminal, courier, or
seems to work better. I find that this part of the program works better if you type the
name of the server in, select the font and type of terminal emulation, then connect
to the server. Most servers query the client program to see what it is emulating.

If you choose to switch terminal emulations mid stride while connected to the server,
make sure you tell the server via whatever its command is. (Some use term or
terminal command
to set the terminal type)

If you bothered to read this far, let me tell you that this is the first time I decided to
place a time limit on a program that I created. The reason being is that I have
received a lot
of questions about my other programs, but no money... I would just like to someday
purchase one of those $1000 computers you see in the adds lately. (right now I am
still
programming on a 486 - 66 computer and a 300 Mhz K6 would make a world of
difference to my
motivation for programming more.)

Thanks for downloading this program and I hope you get some enjoyment from it.

One quick note about a bug that I found:

On Windows NT SP3, a error occurrs during startup about access violation in
Ntdll.dll. If you click OK, the program continues on its way and seems to work fine.

My 486 - 66 is incapable of running Windows NT (not to mention my wallet can't
run it either). If you want this program to run without this (bug), pay $10 and the
non shareware version does not encounter this bug. (Or, send me a Windows NT
machine on permanent loan and I will use it to debug the program.)
