About the Author:

My name is Joe Tompkins, and I am a Technology Specialist for the Rockdale County School System in Conyers, Georgia. Although I am certified to teach Language Arts, computers have always been an interest of mine. I created "Gepeto Software" from my home and began writing educational software in response to needs that I saw in our schools. The teachers wanted some way to apply technology directly to what they were currently teaching. These programs allow them to do that.

About Grammar Quest:
Grammar Quest is an engaging and interesting way to review and practice grammar. The program leads students through a "quest" game as they search beautifully rendered and varied locales for treasure and answer grammar questions to unlock the chests. Students can also go back and review missed questions or practice upcoming lessons. An extensive online help system covers each topic in detail, with explanations and examples for every concept. To top it all off, teachers can click a button to instantly produce a printed worksheet from any of the lessons, providing the student with additional practice at home or in class. With an incredible 1000 exercises covering 50 lessons, this program is an unbeatable value.

System Requirements:
Grammar Quest runs under Windows 95 or 98 on a single computer or a network running Windows-NT

To Start:

The Quests:

Each grammar topic has a different "quest" area to play. To begin a quest, simply click on the button on the title screen that says "Begin a Quest".
Choose a quest and topic, then a lesson.
A prompt will ask you if you would like to review the topic. Choose yes or no.
When the quest screen appears, you will see a colorful backdrop with treasure chests scattered about the screen.
Click on a chest to open it.
You will be asked a grammar question. If you get the question right the first time, the treasure is yours! If it takes more than one try to open the chest, the treasure will be lost.
When the player clears an area of all the chests, a screen will apeear telling them how much treasure they found and lost.

Errors:

If you feel that you have found an error in the program (in the grammar, spelling, or layout), then please email me at jtompkins@mindspring.com and describe the exact error and where you saw it. I will do my best to correct it immediately and provide you with a fixed version of the program.

Troubleshooting:

*Screen size and fonts:
-Grammar Quest was created to run at 800X600 resolution with a 16-bit color depth. It is highly reccommended that you use this setting. The program will run at lower resolutions, but it looks gross!

*Errors:
	1) "File not found"
When creating a shortcut or desktop icon, make sure the "Working Directory" listed in the shortcut properties is the directory where "Grammar Quest" is stored.*
