=============================
 Code Translator version 1.0
=============================

Thank you for using Code Translator version 1.0

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Important
---------------------------------------------------------------------

There are two types of Setup files, "cdetr10f.zip" and
"cdetr10m.zip".

-- "cdetr10f.zip" contains the Code Translator program and the
Help files.

-- "cdetr10m.zip" contains only the Code Translator program. If you
need the Help files, you have to download the file "cdetrhlp.zip"
at my web sites :

             - http://www.geocities.com/weeshiang

---------------------------------------------------------------------
How to install
---------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------
Program files
-----------------------------

1) You should have either the file "cdetr10f.zip" or "cdetr10m.zip".

Important: Just having the "CdeTransSetup.exe" will not do!

2) Unzip ALL the files into any temporary folder (You may use "C:\CdeTransSetup\")

You need a compression software such as Winzip to unzip the file.
If you are not sure if you can open the zip file, double- click at the file. If no program offers to unzip the file, you should download the Winzip program.

Important: Clicking on the "Install" button in the Winzip program, or running on "CdeTransSetup.exe" in the Winzip program, will not do! You need to extract all the files into a temporary folder.

3) Go to that temporary folder (eg. "C:\CdeTransSetup") and Run "CdeTransSetup.exe".

4) Follow the instructions in the Setup program to guide you through the installation.

5) After the installation, you can delete away the temporary folder (eg. "C:\CdeTransSetup").

-----------------------------
Help files
-----------------------------

Note: You only need to install this help files if you have only installed the program files earlier using "cdetr10m.zip" and if you want to.

1) Make sure you have Code Translator installed and the zip file "cdetrhlp.zip".

2) Use Winzip or any compression program to unzip the file "cdetrhlp.zip".

3) Double- click on the "CdeTransHelp.exe" file.

Note: You don't have to extract the file if you are using the Winzip program.

4) Check that the path on the box of the program is that of the installed Code Translator. The default path "C:\Program Files\Code Translator\" should be correct if you have not changed anything.

5) Click on the Unzip button (and only that button).

6) After the files have been unzipped. You can now close the program. The help files have been installed.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Background
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Code Translator is for anyone who needs to convert from codes to text
and vice versa. That's not all. It also allows you to design your own
codes which you can share with only your close friends for sending
"secret codes". Code Translator features an user- friendly interface
to translate your codes with ease, a command center for all your
codes with many useful funtions and a powerful, yet easy- to- use
editor to build your own codes.

This is a freeware. You are free to distribute the zipped setup files
"cdetr10f.zip" or "cdetr10m.zip" to your friends or relatives.
Please note that you should send either of these files when
distributing, or else some functions of the software may not work.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Ideas
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This software is a successor to Morse Code Translator, which is also
developed by me. Morse Code Translator, as the name implied, allows
you to translate from Morse Code to text and vice versa. This software
was requested by a friend of mine.

After some time, a user e-mailed to tell me how much this software
helped to keep his and his girlfriend's parents from "eavesdropping"
on their e-mails. He actually exchanged messages with his girlfriend
in Morse Code using my program for translation.

Therefore, I developed Code Translator for anyone to design their own
codes, exactly for such uses, to exchange messages in secret.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Key Features
---------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Translate codes to text and vice versa

Code Translator allows codes of any kind to be translated to text and vice versa, provided you or someone has made the template.

2) View the Codes
You can now view what the code is comprised of, provided you have the password or it is not protected. You can also write your own notes for the codes you have, which will not be exported.

3) Export and Import Codes
You can export any of your codes to your friends. Similary, you can import any codes too, provided you have the password or it is not protected.

4) Edit the Codes
You can now edit any codes, provided you have the password or it is not protected and its author has given permission for his/her code to be edited.

5) Design your own Codes
Design your own codes that you can share with only the ones you want to communicate with secretly. You can set password to protect your codes so that no one else can access it. You may also set your codes to be non- editable.

6) And many more!
