Process Control Simulator v1.051

Hot Pepper Software (tm)

This software requires Windows95 or Windows NT 4.0.

DESCRIPTION:

This software will be of interest to Process Control and Instrumentation Engineers, Instrumentation Technologists, Instrument Mechanics, and those studying to become such.

The software simulates various types of industrial processes:
  Flow Control
  NSR Level Control
  SR Level Control
  Liquid Pressure Control
  Gas Pressure Control
  Boiler Water Level Control
  Temperature Control
  Dead Time Control

It uses P only, PI, PID, PD, or On/Off control modes. You select the process type, the controller type, enter tuning parameters and run the process. The controller operates in manual and automatic modes. A trend graphic of the Setpoint, Controller Output, Process Variable, and Load is produced.

Ramp and step changes may be made to the setpoint or controller output. The ramp rate and step change values may be set by the user. Measurement noise and/or process load drift may be toggled on/off allowing the user to see the effects of each.

The trend graphic may be printed. Many other features are included. It must be run to appreciate its capabilities.

The help file contains information about process types, tuning parameters, controller modes, valve characteristics, etc. A useful study tool for instrumentation students by itself.

INSTALLATION:

Run the file 'install.exe' to install the Process Control Simulator on your harddrive. The un-registered (trial) version is limited to 15 runs. See the Help file for registration information. The install program sets up a Start Menu Group 'PConSim' and Program Items 'PConSim' and 'PConSim Help'.

To Un-Install PConSim, run 'UnInstal.exe' from the install floppy disk. It will remove the software and Start Menu items.

Files on diskette:
Client.ex_    -->  Client.exe  :  Network workstation install program
Control.ex_   -->  Control.exe :  Process Control Simulator program
Process.hl_   -->  Process.hlp :  Help file
Process.cn_   -->  Process.cnt :  Contents for help file
Appinit.ex_   -->  Appinit.exe :  Initializes installed files
Install.exe                    :  Install program
Install.nam : List of files to install
Readme.txt                     :  This file
UnInstal.exe                   :  Uninstall program

When the program is properly installed on your harddrive, a Start menu item will be created for you called PConSim Process Control Simulator with program items PConSim and PConSim Hlp. The file 'CopyGuar.dat' will also be generated and placed in the working directory. This file is required to run the program. If it is removed or lost, the software will 'complain' about it and fail to work. Do not move the installed directory to another disk or rename it. The software keeps track of where it was originally installed.

The single user version will not run on a network drive.

NETWORK INSTALLATION:

Network installs require the use of Client.exe to install the program group and program items at each workstation. Run Client.exe from its installed directory at each workstation. It is also used to uninstall the workstation client components.

You must register the software in order to obtain the password required for use with the client installs.

The network install keeps track of the number of users currently using the software. If the licensed number of users exceeded, the extra user's program will close with an error message.

LICENSE:

You may run this program in its demo mode. It is limited to 15 runs. To run this program after the demo period has expired, you must register the software, at which time you will be given instructions to upgrade your installation. The help file will run without being registered.

Please read the license and registration information in the Process.hlp file.

This program is SHAREWARE, not freeware. You may copy and distribute this diskette to others. It must be copied exactly as is with no additional files, no files modified, and no missing files.
