What is DateChecker?
====================

DateChecker was written to help people keep they computers or servers up to date.

It checks the modified date of files and ensures that the file is not older than the number of days you choose.

This is great for things like Anti Virus signature files on several computers, the companies phone list, backup logs or anything that you need to keep up to date.

Of course you could look at the directory listing of the files you need to monitor, but DateChecker does this for you all on one handy screen.

DateChecker does not write to or alter any file it checks, it just does a directory listing like you would do in explorer.

DateChecker is fully Year 2000 compliant.

Why be caught out with outdated files, DateChecker is free download it today.

19 May 1999 - Version 1.1 released

The new version of DateChecker has been released, it has been tested with Windows NT and Windows 95. It is still a beta release, so if you find any problems please email me and I will look into any issues.

The new version has some really cool features including:-

DateChecker now tells you if a file has been changed, great for watching files that someone else has control over

DateChecker runs in the task bar as an icon, and flashes if a file is old or has changed. Great if you never turn off your PC.

You can now use non fixed file names the oldest or newest file in a directory can be checked, this is great if the filenames change all the time. For example with backup logs.

28 Sep 1998 - Version 1.0 released

DateChecker was born, mainly for my personal use. To keep the anti virus software at work up to date. Also to ensure automatic file transfer were successful during the night.

System Requirements
===================

Microsoft Windows NT or Windows 95/98
890 kb of hard drive space
Visual Basic 5 run time DLL (05.02.8244 SP2) or greater

Installing DateChecker
=====================

If you have downloaded the file from the Internet, extract the files to a temporary directory and run the "datechecker.exe" Program.

You will also require the Visual Basic 5 run time DLL, MSVBVM50.DLL. To keep the size of the DateChecker file set down it was decided not to distribute the Visual Basic 5 run time dll with the program files. The main reason for this was to shorten download times as the file is nearly 1.5Mb in size. There is a good chance that you may already have this file on your system because it is distributed with a large number of applications and shareware programs. This file can be downloaded from most software sites of the Internet or my site. If you have any problems, email the author and I will get a copy will be sent to you via email.
