To install FilePeek, run the "Filepk21.exe" file. The shareware version of
FilePeek is freely distributable; always distribute the entire
"Filepk21.exe" setup file. Note: Because FilePeek's dll may be loaded
in memory even when the program is not running, always use these
three steps when upgrading FilePeek to a newer version:
1. Uninstall the old version.
2. Reboot your computer.
3. Install the new version.

				FilePeek
			       Version 2.1

FilePeek is the file viewer that Windows should have given you, but didnt.
QuickView is way too slow, balks at formats it doesnt know, and truncates
text at the first binary data. FilePeek will view the text in any file, no
matter what kind of file it is, and very quickly. FilePeek converts non-
displayable characters to a dot ( . ) and therefore, doesnt allow binary
characters to truncate its view. It is a "view only" program, so you dont
have to worry about accidentally modifying files youre viewing with it.
FilePeek also has a hex view mode, if you need to see what those non-
displayable characters are. You can search for text, and select and copy
text to the clipboard.

FilePeeks setup program lets you install the program in the directory of
your choice, and adds a shortcut on your Start Menu, but the easiest way to
open a file with FilePeek is to right click the file from Windows Explorer,
and choose FilePeek on the context menu which pops up. FilePeek lets you
choose separate fonts for its Text and Hex view modes. You can run more
than one instance of FilePeek if you need to compare files.

FilePeek's window can be resized, and its position can be saved if you want
it to open in the same position every time you run it. FilePeeks text view
has word wrap, so all characters are visible, no matter what the window size.
The hex view shows 16 bytes of hex view on the left side of the window, and
the same 16 bytes in text on the right.

FilePeek stores up to eight items in its Recent file list, but the recent
file list menu items won't reopen files until you register FilePeek.

Version 2.1 adds a bunch of new features, including printing, showing the hex
address of each line in hex mode, window positioning commands which make it
easy to compare two files side by side or one over the other, keyboard
shortcuts for most menu commands, and improved handling of very large files.

If you installed FilePeek with the included setup program, it will be on
your start menu, and can be uninstalled from Control Panel.
