File Sync version 1 (c) Warren Machanik

Introduction
File sync is a utility that can be used to synchronise files across directories, it solves the age old problem, where you have two PC's that need to have each others data, some of which is duplicated already.

This program is (c) Warren Machanik who is the sole programmers and developer. The package was developed in its entirety in Borland's Delphi version 3 (that is what it was called w hen I purchased the product).
What it Does
Use the product to select a source and target directory, click on "File Sync" and sit back while the package synchronizes your files using date as a base. If dual sync is selected it will first synchronise the source to the target and then reverse the target and source and synchronise them.

If you require help the product has hint on most places allowing you to move your mouse on top of the item in question and a hint will be displayed.

As the synchronisation is working a full status is reported in the status field on the window. If you want you can save this log to a standard text file which can be view in Notepad (notice that the extension used for the file is a ".LOG" which means that you will need to select "All files" under Notepad.

If you want to place the log file in a database or spreadsheet I have used two delimiters ":" and ";" the ":" is used before each file or directory name, the ";" is used to separate statuses.

The Demo version
If you have the demo version then there are certain restrictions:
- copying of files will only occur once every 10 seconds, this cannot be changed on the slide either.
- the user cannot abort the synchronisation process by clicking on "STOP".
- The system will not check for or copy any files in subdirectories of the source. In the full version FileSync would not only copy all the files, but also the subdirectory structure, with no depth level restrictions.
- Only the "All files" selection is valid, no update only or newer only allowed.
- Settings are not save at all.
- The log cannot be saved.
- There are regular "bug me notifications" and random aborting may occur.
