SetDate is a little 32-bit shell extension that allows you to set
the date of any file.
You can change all three dates (last write, creation and last access).

After installation, whenever you right-click on a file, a
group of files, or a folder in Windows Explorer, an option
"Set date" will be available in the context menu.
Choosing this option will let you set the date and time of
all selected objects to the same value.
You will be asked if you want to include subfolders.

SetDate is freeware.

Installation

Copy the contents of the zip archive to a folder of your choice.
In this folder, run the program "INSTALL.EXE".
This is all. Check if "Set date" is available in any right-click menu.
Under Windows NT, you should have Administrator rights to do this.

Removing SetDate

In the SetDate folder, first run the program "UNINSTAL.EXE".
Under Windows NT, you should have Administrator rights to do this.
When this is successful, you can delete the folder (and all 4 files in it:
SETDATE.DLL, INSTALL.EXE, UNINSTAL.EXE and README.TXT).
DON'T DELETE THE FOLDER WITHOUT RUNNING UNINSTAL.EXE, SINCE THE SETDATE
OPTION WILL NOW REMAIN ON YOUR MENUS.
If you get an error (the file SETDATE.DLL may still be in use), delete the
folder after restarting Windows.

Program history:

06-20-98 version 1.1
- Installs as a shell extension (setdate.dll)
- Comes with full uninstaller

06-14-98 version 1.0.4
- Possibility to set the date for subfolders too
- Possibility to cancel if run without parameters

05-04-98 version 1.0.3
- Possibility to set the date for an entire folder
- Multiple arguments possible

02-15-98 version 1.0.2
- First official release

Known problems:

- Dates and times are not shown in the local date format, but in
US format (mm/dd/yy and hh:mm AM).

- The date of a folder's contents can be modified, but not the date
  of the folder itself.
You can work around this by copying (not moving) the folder (and
its subfolders) to another location (set your computer's date
and time at the desired value). The new folder will take the
  present date and time.
