1. Description
--------------
The Financial File Converter converts QIF files to/from other formats. It also converts date formats between the various flavours handled by different versions of Quicken, and user-defined formats. Cheque/transaction numbers can be cleaned up to remove leading zeroes.

Delimited (comma, tab, user-defined) format files can be converted to and from QIF format.
User-defined formats can be set up to handle:
        Different delimiters,
        Different date formats
        Handling quotes around fields
Swapping the sign of amounts (useful when handling downloaded credit card statements)
Handling separate debit and credit amounts
Handling amounts with debit/credit indicated in another field
Handling files with variable numbers of header lines to ignore
        Handling separate categories and classes
        Splits

5. Known Bugs
-------------

5.1 Delimited files with embedded delimiters
--------------------------------------------
The system will NOT cope with text delimited files with delimiters within a field.
In general, programs deal with this by enclosing any such fields in quotes. This is not
detected or handled by TFFC at present.

5.3 'Save' button remains enabled when no files are open
--------------------------------------------------------
The heading says it all - this will be fixed in future versions.

5.4 Browsing to a directory on a removable drive causes an exception
--------------------------------------------------------------------
When selecting directories on the 'settings' screen, choosing a removable drive with no
disk in it causes an exception.

This will be fixed in future versions.

6. BACKING UP YOUR DATA
-----------------------
The Financial File Converter has been tested as comprehensively as possible on the data
available at the time. However, as always when importing any files into Quicken or Money (or any
other finance manager), IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU BACK UP YOUR DATA FILES BEFORE
IMPORTING ANY FILES.
