Quite a few image browsers exist such as the famous ACDSee browser. Most, however, need installation, and therefore, are not suitable to put it on your picture CD-ROM. On the other hand, most are not freeware and you can not distribute them freely.
ImagePlayer is a very simple, standalone program written with Borland C++ Builder (Imprise Corp.). Though it is a bit large (344k), it will fit on a picture CD-ROM without any problem. With an autorun.inf file, you can make your picture CD-ROM automatically play full screen.
Stepping back and forth is as simple as pressing the left and right arrow keys, and changing play interval is simply controled by the up and down arrow keys. More importantly, it is absolutely free because I am not living on it.
