The JPEG File Explorer is an Win98-Explorer-like viewer
and file manager for JPEG, GIF, most TIFF, BMP, ICO and
AVI images/animations.

1. INSTALLATION/DEINSTALLATION

Installation:
1. Extract all files from the archive JExpl15e.zip (e.g. using WinZip).
2. Execute the program setup.exe.

De-installation:
Execute the program Uninst.exe, which is located in the program diretcory of
the JPEG File Explorer.

2. IMAGE VIEWER FUNCTIONS

2.1 Displaying thumbnails

In the thumbnail view mode, the JPEG File Explorer displays thumbnails of the
supported images in the current directory.
The JPEG File Explorer creates the thumbnails "in the background", so you can
go on working.
The thumbnails are not stored in a database because extraction is rather speedy.
JPEG files needs not to be completely decompressed to extract a thumbnail.

2.2 Showing the image at full size

Double-click a thumbnail to view the image at it's original size.
By right-clicking into the view window you get a context menu with some options.
In the view window's system menu you can define whether the window always stays on
top or not.

2.3 Slideshow functions

When you have opened a view window, select "Start Slideshow" to view all selected images
in a slideshow. When there is only one file selected, all files of the directory are
shown. Each image will be displayed for 10 seconds. By (left-)clicking into the view window
you can stop/continue the show or go to the next or previous image.
Click "Stop Slideshow" in the context menu to stop the show.

2.4 Displaying image properties

Select a file and right-click to access the context menu, then click on "Properties"
to get a dialog which shows the image file properties.

3. FILE MANAGER FUNCTIONS

The JPEG File Explorer calls the Windows shell to execute file operations.
The delete function uses the recycle bin so that you can restore deleted files.
(NOTE: Not on all drives exists a recycle bin.)
You can copy, move, delete or rename selected files by using the file menu.

It is also possible to use the edit menu for copying files: click copy to copy
the names of the selected files to the clipboard. Then you can use the Explorer's
(or the JPEG File Explorer's) Edit|Paste menu item to paste the files into an
other directory.

You also can drag-and-drop files from and to the Windows Explorer and to any
application that supports drag-and-drop.

When other application create or delete image files in the JPEG File Explorer's
current directory, the file list will be updated automatically.
