Command-line parameters
=======================

Command-line pamameters (an image file name or folder name must be FIRST, before the others):
   For using long file names (contain space symbols) place a file name in the quotation marks:

   picview2.exe "c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe"
   picview2.exe d:\images

   /m              start in maximized state
   /fs             start in fullscreen mode

   picview2.exe d:\images\myfile.jpg /fs

   picview2.exe MySlideShowFile.ss
                   start in SlideShow mode with image files are pointed
                   in MySlideShowFile.ss (simple text file: each line -
                   image file name path)

   /p:"filename"         print images from command-line
   /pport:"portname" select printer by port name
   /pname:"printername"  select printer by name

   picview2.exe /p:"c:\my images\printme.tif" /pport:"LPT1:"
   picview2.exe /pport:"\\server\hp"
   picview2.exe /pname:"HP LaserJet 4 Plus"

Thumbnail caching
=================

PicViewer can store generated thumbnails in an internal database (the PicView.cch file
located in the program folder) and use them next time. It can give great increasing of
performance (especially for large images). If you modify an image whose thumbnail is
cached the program will detect the change and regenerate the thumbnail. Also if you
change thumbnail sizes PicViewer will regenerate all thumbnails.
You can control the thumbnail caching at the the Options dialog/General tab.

Mouse wheel
===========

You can use the mouse wheel for scrolling the folder tree and the file list.
Hold Ctrl for scrolling by page.

Slide show and sound files
==========================

If 'Play associated sound files' checkbox in the Options dialog/SlideShow sheet
is enabled, the program will play sound files during a slide show. You should
prepare sound files have names as image files in the slide show and place them
into the same folder.

PSD files
=========

The program displays PSD files contain a composite image. Also it's recommended
to save thumbnails in your PSD files. PicViewer generates thumbnail images much
faster in this case.

PCD, FlashPix(FPX), PSP, PBM/PGM/PPM and SunRaster files
========================================================

To view these files you need to install an additional module from our website.
It also supports some of MIX files (which are FPX files with Microsoft extensions).

Troubleshooting
===============

ComCtl32.dll update.
Note! if you have installed latest Microsoft software (for example: Windows 98 or later,
Internet Explorer 4 or 5) you already have a necessary version.

We recommend to update ComCtl32.dll system file. It contains basic code of some Windows
controls and some functionality of PicViewer requires the latest update of this file.
You can download the updated file from our website (4.72.3110.0 version, don't download
the update if you have a later version. You can find this file in your Windows\System
and inspect its version with the Properties dialog):
http://www.anixsoft.com/files/401comupd.exe
or from the Microsoft website:
http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/ieplatform/ie/comctrlx86.asp

We recommend to update your video drivers from the video card/chipset vendor's website.

Known issues
============

Some files with the .GIF extension are images in the ART format.
PicViewer doesn't display such files. True GIF images have the
GIF87 or GIF89 strings in the beginning of a file.

Some certain poorly designed virus scanners (House doctor, FixIt) display
false warnings about a trojan horse in the program files. It happens because
the files have been packed by an exe/dll compressor. Don't worry about it.
