WHAT IS IT?

- Did you expect more out of your so-called 'high-speed'
internet connection? Even if your connection seems fast,
most people aren't getting the most out of their
connection. By default, Windows isn't optimized for most
types of high speed internet connections, such as DSL,
Cable, T1 lines, etc... Windows Network Booster can
greatly increase the speed of most of these connection
  types!

Since there are several different types of high speed
internet connections, I wrote 3 programs to cover them
all. All are contained within the setup program and you
can choose which to install when you run setup.exe.

The 'Normal Version' of Windows Network Booster was
designed for typical high speed connections. Such
connections include Cable, DSL, T1 lines and other types
  of 'truly digital' connections.

The 'Flexible Version' of Windows Network Booster was
made for slower, or oddball connection types. Such
connections include Satellite types, connections that
utilize PPPoE, or any connection that is not truly
digital. It is also good for 'cleaning' up previous
tweaking attempts, as it removes many 'bad tweaks'
  applied by other programs.

I've also included a 56k modem booster, for those
unfortunate people that don't have high-speed access.

Ask your ISP if you're not sure what kind of connection
  type you have.

REQUIREMENTS

- This program works under Windows 98 and ME ONLY.
If you have Windows95, please UPGRADE! This program
only alters specific Windows settings and works
  independent of your systems hardware.

_____________________________________________________
REMOVE

- The program can be removed through the Add\Remove
applet found in the Control Panel. It will restore
all of your previous network settings upon removal.

KNOWN ISSUES

- Do not expect this program to help any if you have
already tried tweaking your connection. This program
was designed for the average person, whom has little
or no technical knowledge of Windows network settings.

- If your connection seems erratic or slower after
installing this program, simply uninstall it and your
system will be restored to it's previous state. If
you tried using the 'Normal Version' and had problems,
try using the 'Flexible Version' instead.

- If you have several types of differing connections,
i.e., you're on a LAN, but connect to the internet
using a 56k modem, you may have problems with this
program. Since it alters ALL of your network settings
globally depending on the install type you choose, not
all of the connections will be optimized correctly.
There is no current way to solve this problem without
manually altering settings or doing complex programming.

- If you have ANY problems, PLEASE email me. While there
is no real way MY programs could cause any trouble, I
cannot vouch for the installation program. I did NOT
make the install program, and since I don't make any
money from my programs, I cannot afford a professional
  installation suite.

FURTHER TWEAKING

- These tweaks have been known to improve connection
stability. These tweaks require that you have a
connection that uses an NIC (network interface card).

Setting the Transmit Threshold on your NIC adapter
to 128 bytes is said to smooth performance. The setting
is located under in the Network applet of the control
panel. Your Adapter Name > Properties > Advanced >
  Transmit Threshold

Setting up a large IRQ buffer for your network card helps
stabilize your connection. You'll need to get the IRQ
setting from the device info in your system properties-

Navigate to Start > Run and type "system.ini" (no quotes).
Find the [386enh] Section in the System.ini file and add
IrqX=4096 under it, where X is the IRQ number of your
NIC and 4096 is the amount of RAM you want to reserve in
bytes. I recommend using 4096, however you can experiment
with different values if you want. Save changes in the file,
exit and reboot for changes to take effect. Example -

  [386Enh]
  Irq10=4096
